The in-store radio system for the Market Basket grocery store chain (Mass and NH) is now all Christmas.

@bostonradio notes he has been hearing about 4 Christmas tunes per hour at..106.7
and he wonders if WMJX might be the all Yule station from Greater this year.

At 5:03 PM, WMJX played Jingle Bell Rock by Daryl Hall and John Oates, and the last time I listened to WMJX they played Last Christmas by Wham at 2:50 PM.
 
I replied in the other Christmas thread with Magic 106.7's last 5 songs played at some point earlier this morning. The one Christmas tune within those 5 songs was Whitney's Do You Hear What I Hear?

Hard to believe that with just 4 songs an hour and quite a few to choose from that they are already repeating themselves.

Here's the latest last 5 songs played as of a few minutes ago:

Nowyou're the inspiration by chicago
9:00no one by alicia keys
8:56hold on by wilson phillips
8:53i'm yours by jason mraz
8:49do you hear what i hear by whitney

Apparently, they like Whitney over there.
 
WROR is now playing 4 Christmas songs per hour. First one I heard was at 2:45am, Jose Feliciano and Feliz Navidad.
 
Well, the only flip WROR did was during the 7pm to 8pm Santa Chat where all the music played was Christmas. Otherwise, it's right back to regular format with Hank Morse and 80s at 8 and I'm guessing they'll play a Christmas tune each 15 minutes. The Gods have listened. NO FLIPPING!
 
I've had Worcester's WORC-FM 98-9 on this morning and early afternoon. Haven't listened to them in awhile.

Looking at their website, they are apparently no longer referring to themselves as Oldies 98-9 and no longer playing 'oldies'. These days, they are calling themselves ORC-FM or 98.9 ORC-FM although the URL www.oldies989.com works for them. The logo in the top left of the website says "The Greatest Hits".

Anyway, my point (and I do have one) is that they are also, like many stations, playing about 4 Christmas/holiday songs per hour. In past years, including last year, they would also flip to all-Christmas. "Greatest Hits" doesn't necessarily mean "Classic Hits" like WROR and, formerly, WODS. but this leads me to believe that WORC will NOT flip to all-Christmas and I think, possibly, they had done so by now in years past. Maybe someone else can do the heavy lifting and can look that up here on this thread. ;D

WDRC-FM Hartford -- which stopped saying "oldies" years ago but still played them -- now uses the phrase "The Biggest Hits." It's pretty much all '70s and '80s, with maybe one or two late '60s songs an hour.

Yeah and alot of DRC-FM listeners (both old and young) DO NOT like this. They said if there was a station that played music similar to DRC-FM, but focusing more on the 60s and less on the 80s they would listen to that station, even if it were on AM instead of FM.

Except it's already running on the HD2 stream, has been for years. It's a decent mix, but it's completely on autopilot and, as we all know, the average listener doesn't have an HD-capable radio and doesn't want to spend at least 50 bucks just to be able to listen to one station.

I was made painfully aware of the change in DRC-FM this morning when I turned on the car radio and heard Bonnie Tyler bellowing "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Yet another recent '80s addition to the playlist at the expense of yet another '60s classic that we'll never hear on 102.9 again. But I know, I know. It's all driven by demographics and the listeners the advertisers think they can sell to. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
 
Heard a Christmas tune this morning (715am-ish or so I think it was) on Worcester's 100FM The Pike. Bruce Palmer said it was in honor of someone...Dave Brubeck maybe?? I don't think they played any other Christmas music, just that one.

And heard a Christmas tune this morning on WXLO, I forget which one. I don't see anything on their website that lists the songs played.

I was just thinking they could put it on their A.M. side because just about ANYTHING is better than Joy Browne!
