Report: CC Selling KBAC, KSFQ/Santa Fe
Oct. 02, 2006
By Mike Boyle
Clear Channel Santa Fe, N.M., properties triple A KBAC (Radio Free Santa Fe) and sister smooth jazz KSFQ (Smooth Jazz Now) could soon be sold to an as yet unnamed Christian broadcasting group, according to a report in The New Mexican.
KBAC station manager Ira Gordon told the paper that the deal was in the early stages and that “nothing is really set.”
In addition, the paper quoted an unnamed source at KBAC who confirmed that a meeting took place at the station on Friday (Sept. 29) to discuss to possibility of a sale. The source also said that Clear Channel wanted to keep the negotiations of a deal quiet until it was signed and that they were expecting a visit from the new owners in the near future.
An interesting note currently on the KBAC Web site (www.kbac.com) thanks listeners for their support and further states, “All the jocks and sales folks want to thank you for listening and for your continued support. We’re planning wonderful things as we get ready to celebrate 10 years on the air.”
CC has owned the station for six of those years, the paper stated.
