Who will replace Hot AC in NYC?

With WPLJ's impending switch to Oldies (supposedly), will NYC now be without a full time Hot AC?? Or will Lite FM gradually make up for that which it has been doing already. Will Mix or KTU try to grab on to this?

Can NYC really be without a new rock or hot ac outlet in 2006?

Light won't change much - it's pretty much the most successful station on the FM dial.
With PLJ out of the picture 101.1 Jack FM is likely the station that stands to gain the most. If they stay on shuffle, but play one or two current Adult Top 40 hits per hour that might take care of the disenfranchised PLJ listeners. Come on, a lot of you have been saying how PLJ has been leaning towards a Jack FM sound in the past few months anyways, right?

Wait allow me to get this straight.
First we are basing a few rumors by All Access on the definate return of oldies.
Second we've already decided it's going to be on PLJ.
Now we have to decide who's replacing PLJ?

LOL! You had me at the All Access notes.

Good point. If all this were to happen. I would have to wait to hear a new Bon Jovi or Bruce Springsteen (for example) song on Jack?!?!

How about if Infinity's FREE FM on 92.3 doesn't work out they can make that the new Hot AC station on 92.3. This as Infinity does well with Hot AC stations. Take a look at Mix 98.5 in Boston and 96.5 TIC in Connecticut. They can even have an all 80s weekend. Make WCBS-FM Jack FM a mostly a rock type JACK, they can make that like Top Tracks on XM Radio. Would this work at all?

Doesnt make sense for Infinity. Some people now say Jack and PLJ (or a Hot AC station) overlap quite a bit. It would seem a bit foolish for one company to do both. However if Inifinty were to morph (terrible) Jack into a Rock station maybe then it could work. However if you went down this path, then you would likely say....if Free FM dies, bring back rock on 92.3 and morph Jack into the old PLJ.

Either way...the odds are pretty close to 0.

Mix wins...

This is very easy to answer, Mix wins.
What other station is better positioned than that to take over from 'PLJ?

Just remember, we are still talking about an IF, not a WHEN.
