Who Will Replace Keith Larson on WBT?

Not sure why this topic no longer appears to be posted, but apparently WBT has a new idea in mind for the 9am-12noon timeslot. I wonder if they are looking for a local host, or a nationally syndicated show? I would like to see them put Neal Boortz on in that time period. Agree or disagree, he is very thought provoking, and he makes bold statements and gets to the point. He doesn't just ramble on and on, and he supports his viewpoints with good research and show prep. And it is very interesting to hear him challenge the opinions of his listeners, in his distinctive curmudgeonly style. And in liberterian form, he appears to be socially progressive but fiscally conservative. He originated from WSB in Atlanta, and has been successful there for years. Would like to see him on WBT live in the morning, but really sure what they have in mind.

Who really cares? We are hearing the same kind of "talk" day in and day out from the national yappers! Why not put somebody ont he air in Charlotte that can communicate with Charlotte with news and information that people can relate to rather than the host own opinions. So tired of hearing the same old BS!

It will definitely be bottom line baby. I would guess the next person will be cheaper and with no contract.
Someone like Neal Boortz would work, but I’m guessing they’ll prefer someone live and local.

I believe most radio execs see the writing on the wall when it comes to AM radio.

Larson was one of the true greats to pass thru WBT. However for the past several years I’ve listened to many a show where it sounded like he was just “mailing it in”. No clear direction or subject to talk about just clowning around with Mark or mindless phone surveys. His “my news” segment however was always well done.

I don’t get that impression when I’m listening to Hancock. He’s done some type of show prep and it almost always sounds like it. Maybe that’s why he’s lasted as long as he has.

Please leave Hancock on at least !!! They are/were the best things on the station.

When is his last day? He hosted his show today and he is still listed on WBT's website. Wonder if this is a stunt somehow to get people listening?

His contract ends at the end of next month.

As to who cannily replace him, maybe WBT can move Coakley to mid-mornings and do an afternoon news block from 3-6, similar to Charlotte's Morning News. Traffic/weather on the 10's, sports, business news, etc.

Anything other than a return of Dr. Laura will be a SMALL victory. Can't stand that witch, even though I usually agree with her opinions, she is just way too rude and condesending to the listeners. I can't understand why anyone ever listens to her for long.

sure looks like the typical radio stunt

If it was, Larson belongs in Hollywood instead of Charlotte in my opinion, Because he surely sounded very genuine for all three hours on 4/25.
