Who Would You Ban From TV?

Keith Olbermann
Bill O'Reilly
Nancy Grace
Larry King
Katie Couric
Whoopi Goldberg
Jerry Springer
Montel Williams
Maury Povich
Rachel Ray

This could become another topic i may post soon, but the state of television and
programming today is not good from a "secular" standpoint.
There is so much material viewers are getting annoyed with, especially when our
"news media" wants to set their "agenda" and give us information most of the
public doesn't care about, i believe we should return to presenting the newscasts
without all the "fluff", in other words, give us a "fair and balanced" program from
start to finish, but don't expect no one from the major television networks to give
in to this anytime soon.
In addition, as previous messages have indicated, there are certain magazine and
talk shows that shouldn't grace the airwaves, we all have problems, but don't
parade this on the air, from what i've seen in the past, most of us should learn
to resolve them in a proper manner, and if all of us would do that, this world
would be a better place.

All the logos, ratings bugs, pop-ups, crawl-lines, squeese credits, and all the other junk that clutters up the screen when you're trying to watch the show!

In no particular order after Tim McCarver, who is evil:

2. Jack Buck

6. Any host or former host of Access Hollywood, Extra, or anything on E!

2. Jack Buck has been dead for a few years. Don't talk ill of the dead!!!

6. So what beef do you have with people like Larry Mendte (AH), Dave Nemeth(Extra), and Maureen O' Boyle (A Current Affair and Extra) who left these "tabloid entertainment shows" to go back to their roots with prosperous careers in local television?

Could be worse. Dave Nemeth used to be a weather forecaster and co-host of "PM Magazine" here at WFSB-TV (CBS) channel 3 in Hartford! Yikes! :)

Katie Couric
Oprah
Larry King
Rachel Ray
Dan Rather
Any Osmond
Steven Colbert
Jerry Springer
Steve Wilkos
Judge Judy
Tim McCarver

-Jay Leno (cant stand him on the Tonight Show....was a horrific interviewer when he took over, and even beforehand as Johnny's sub, and remains so to this day...haven't watched the show since Johnny retired)

-Gary Coleman (the Diff'rent Strokes actor...he isn't in much these days, thank God, although he was in some reality show not all that long ago, I think)

-Seacrest

-Howard K Stern, Larry Birkhead, and anyone related to the Anna Nicole Smith case

-Don Imus

-OJ Simpson and anyone related to his case

-Brittany Spears, Kevin Federline and anyone related to them

-Paris, Nicole, and anyone related to their cases

-Donald Trump

-Rosie O'Donnell

Amen!

As annoying as some of the people listed in this thread can be, at least I can avoid most of them by the simple expedient of not watching the particular programs that are blighted by their presence. Unfortunately, the onscreen clutter afflicts virtually all first run programming and is almost impossible to avoid, short of waiting for everything to come out on DVD.

It's one thing that has been nice about having an HDTV is that, until recently, most of the onscreen clutter was missing from the HD versions of the big broadcast networks. Unfortunately, NBC, Fox, and the CW are all now inserting all sorts of on-screen promos and crud into both their HD and standard feeds. ABC and CBS are still pretty good, though.

I totally agree with you on that. I hope this writer's strike will solve some of those problems, but I doubt it.

4. Terrell Owens
5. Nancy Grace

Put George Steinbrenner, Roger Clemens, A-Rod, David Beckham, Peyton Manning, Joe Torre (no longer with Bombers) on the list, too.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought there was another Osmond brother we didn't know about, or maybe it was a member of Osmond: TNG. ;D

1. Fox News Channel
2. Peter Popoff (why couldn't Chris Hansen bust him instead of those internet predators?)
3. Benny Hinn
4. Jim Cramer
5. Access Hollywood (excluding Maria Menounos), E! News (excluding Samantha Harris), TMZ, and Extra
6. Paris Hilton
7. Oprah
8. WWE (TNA's the only true wrestling on TV these days)
9. Those "Ch-ch-ch-chia!" commercials (yes, it's that time again)
10. O.J. Simpson
11. All those "Judge" shows with the exception of Judy
12. Carson Daly
13. Ryan Seacrest

And for our fine Canadians...
1. Celine Dion
2. Kevin Newman (Global National anchor)
3. Rex Murphy
4. Avril Lavigne
5. Don Cherry

I have others, but I should limit myself.

Jonathan Allen

I happen to like Rachael Ray. She's a cutie, very talented in the kitchen and seems to be pretty down to earth and passionate about what she does.

But who would I ban?

1) Martha Stewart- could the woman be more dry and stoic?
2) Oprah- I'd like to see someone tell her off.
3) Anyone who's ever starred on shows like "The Hills" or "The O.C."
4) Paris Hilton and Britney Spears- not even allowed in footage or mentions
5) The ESPN NASCAR coverage crew (Jerry Punch, Rusty Wallace and Jamie Little in particular)
6) Any reality show released after American Idol debuted
7) Golf or tennis coverage
8) Any cable show hosted by a radio talk show host. Do one or the other.
9) Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana)
10) Hockey games- come on, you can barely see the puck

Rosie O'Donnell
Ann Coulter
Everyone on "The View"
Everyone on FOX News
Glenn Beck
Anyone who talks about Britney Spears' latest scandal
Joel Osteen
Kevin Trudeau
That creepy gorilla-looking guy in those pseudo faux-talk show infomercials talking about colon cleansing
Hulk Hogan and his family
That creepy Tila Tequila chick
Nancy Grace
Anyone who kisses Brett Favre's ass
Joe Buck
Katie Couric
Pat Robertson
Lou Dobbs
Michelle Malkin
The entire cast of "High School Musical"
All "American Idol" clones. I'll let the original stay.
Everyone on VH1 or MTV. Go back to music.
Don Imus
Ryan Seacrest (though he was hilarious in "Knocked Up")
Maury Povich
Lindsay Lohan

Here is my original list (corrected & amended):
1. Tim McCarver
2. Joe Buck
3. Paris Hilton et. al. - and anyone who talks about them
4. Britney Spears - and anyone who talks about them
5. Anyone appearing in an infomercial, including those in Satan's infomercials like Pat Robertson
6. Any host or former host of Access Hollywood, Extra, or anything on E!
7. That kid from the Verizon FIOS ad
8. Dr. Phil
9. Michael Jackson
10. Dr. Wayne Dyer
11. Al Sharpton
12. Glenn Beck
13. Ryan Seacrest
14. Simon Cowell (except he can go on Top Gear)
15. Kenneth aka Dan Rather
16. Rita Cosby
17. Al Gore
18. O. J. Simpson
19. Bill O'Riley
20. Nancy Grace

I'd like to add the following to my list:

21. Oprah
22. Anyone involved with NASCAR
23. All TV "judges"
24. Jerry Springer
25. Professional "wrestlers"
26. Maury Povich
27. Anyone who has appeared on a "reality" show
28. Rosie O'Donnell
29. Don Imus
30. Professional Golfers (it is fine if they appear on the Golf Channel)

Most of those mentioned I just wouldn't hire.

I would ban Mandy Patinkin. The prima donna walked out on Chicago Hope and Criminal Minds, good shows and gigs most actors would kill for.
