Who Would You Ban From TV?

Chuck Tiller said:
I wouldn't ban anybody. If I don't like what I hear or see, I simply change the channel.

It's OK Chuck, I'm sure most of us agree with you, but this is just a light-hearted thread. Go ahead - indulge yourself.

1. Keith Olbermann
2. Rosie O'Donnell
3. Al Sharpton
4. Bill Maher
5. Stephen A. Smith
6. That guy with the slicked-back hair and thin mustache who's infomercial is on about 20 times a night (Dual-action cleanser)
7. Chris Matthews
8. Anyone playing poker on TV
9. Pregnant chicks on the Weather Channel (Jim Cantore needs to wrap up once in a while!)
10. Vince McMahon
11. Nancy Grace
12. Bill Belichick
13. Bryant Gumbel
14. Mike D'Antoni
15. Les Miles

A. Idiots
B. People who whine about Fox News
C. People who think MSNBC and CNN are any better
D. All of the above

All well and good, and you're certainly entitled to your opine, but how many of these people that you list are actually on television? Just wondering.

I'd like to add something that's both a who and a what:

Criminal interviews.

Do we really need to hear from the likes of Charles Manson, Mark David Chapman, and Jeffrey Dahmer?

What are we supposed to get out of it? What's the point? ???

1. Fox News Channel
2. Peter Popoff (why couldn't Chris Hansen bust him instead of those internet predators?)
3. Benny Hinn
4. Jim Cramer
5. Access Hollywood (excluding Maria Menounos), E! News (excluding Samantha Harris), TMZ, and Extra
6. Paris Hilton
7. Oprah
8. WWE (TNA's the only true wrestling on TV these days)
9. Those "Ch-ch-ch-chia!" commercials (yes, it's that time again)
10. O.J. Simpson
11. All those "Judge" shows with the exception of Judy
12. Carson Daly
13. Ryan Seacrest

And for our fine Canadians...
1. Celine Dion
2. Kevin Newman (Global National anchor)
3. Rex Murphy
4. Avril Lavigne
5. Don Cherry

I have others, but I should limit myself.

Jonathan Allen

Canadian personalities are OK.

Sharpton, D'Antoni, Gumbel, Les Miles, some of them seem OK to me.

Also I wouldn't ban most local TV personalities, most of them from large & medium (& somewhat small) sized markets. They seem OK, but programs that have locally produced programming have been cut back within the last 20 years because of the Fairness Doctrine, which led to Rush Limbaugh (which most of them would ban from radio) & the rise of conservative talk radio & all that other useless you would see & hear on TV & radio. It's sad the fall of the Doctrine itself led to more tasteless programming. But keep in mind... Congress (or the next President) is trying to restore the Doctrine back so that the FCC can have more local flavor, instead of that garbage. But unfortunately, the FCC is chaired by a free market Republican, too. So I guess your right on that.

James Goldman and his alter ego Jim Gardner
The entire Action News team.

Hi everyone:

Here's a few more "whats" you can add to the list....

1). LAWYER commercials (They're all the same)
2). Comcast's PERSISTENT interruptions of NFL Network's Red Zone broadcasts (Usually to run ads for Vehix.com or the Children's Miracle Network) which run at THE WORST possible times

Beyond that, I can give you a "Who's who" of a laundry list of people I'd like to see removed from National TV (Many of 'em are already gone - Thank god!), but I won't. I will however name off a few people and things I wouldn't mind see "exit stage left" as it were from Denver TV though...

1). KCNC 4's entire news operation on-air talent (Except for Weatherman Ed Greene and fellow weatherperson Stacey Donaldson) as they are just BO-RING (Besides that, Weekend Anchor Alan Gionet smiles WAY too much on camera).

2). KWGN 2's news department (Their ratings are so low, they're looking UP at FOX O&O KDVR 31, who just started their operation only a few years ago).

3). KUSA 9's boasting about their newscast being the only one in HD (And bragging about the fact that the NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams, also being in HD after them) when in fact (As many on here have pointed out) HD does ZILCH to improve the quality of the picture of a newscast.

Makes me glad I watch KDVR 31 @ 9:00 and/or KMGH 7 (ABC) @ 10:00 when it comes to news. They just concern themselves with BRINGING ME the news and don't fret with trivial things such as how it's presented. :D

Any announcer/person who uses the term "Jeez" in their vernacular. Although I am not a very religious person, they are breaking one of the commandments.

Here are more people who should be banned:

Billy Mays
The cast of "The Hills" (except for Lauren Conrad and Audrina Patridge)
Vince, the ShamWow guy
Jane Velez-Mitchell, who's usually on "Showbiz Tonight" almost every night
Anybody who badmouths Barack Obama (I'm talking to you, Fox Noise Channel!)
Al Trautwig
Richard Simmons (he's 60 and STILL dons those short-shorts?!?!?)
Mike Adamle

And even I shouldn't ban him myself because he's logged in more camera time than anyone else in the world...
REGIS PHILBIN!!!

"Jeez" is a contraction for "Gee Whiz", not "Jesus".

I would ban "reality" TV shows except l"The First 48" that is a pretty interesting show. Networks like MTV, VH1, CMT and the likes that have nothing to do with "reality" TV shows and have eliminated music from their programming and I would ban words like "celebs", "newser" (news conference), "presser" (press conference), "baby bump" when talking about pregnancy, also known as "prego" nowadays, although I have not heard these being thrown around these days. And can networks please stop being so desperate trying to promote other shows when you are showing one? I remember watching "Family Guy" on TBS one day, and the screen froze and along came Bill Engvall's mug promoting his show which I don't even think no one watches it.

Let's see ...

Richard Branson
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton
Katie Couric
Ellen DeGeneres
Al Gore
Barack Obama
Rosie O'Donnell
Keith Olbermann
Nancy Pelosi
Maury Povich
Dan Rather
Diane Sawyer
Jerry Springer
Howard Stern (whom CBS and Infinity harbored for so long!)
any "professional wrestler"

the entire casts of the following:

"ABC World News Tonight"
"Access Hollywood"
"CBS Evening News"
"CBS This Morning"
"Entertainment Tonight"
"Extra"
"Inside Edition"
"NBC Nightly News"
"Today"
"The View" (but not Elizabeth Haselbeck (sp?))
