Whoa! I've been listening to Jill Fm's stream. They just had a dating service commercial that offered a discount "...if you mention this station!" :D

Yeah, I bet! Wonder how that would work? Hmmm......

Actually very interesting music selection. Great segue from Meatloaf "Anything For You" to Night Ranger "Sister Christian".

The stream is originating from Orange County, California. So this is not the statioon listed in the CP for Hobbs, New Mexico.

Seems that the California station used to have the calls.

Parking them in NM, maybe? (Low humidity - less wear & tear.)

(Also, I read HERE where "Jill FM" is the female answer to KCBS' "Jack FM".)

Interesting. Time to move on...

Still listening to the web stream. JILL FM just had a cute feature, but messed it up. It was a double-play of an old hit that was later remade. They set up "I Think We're Alone Now" with recorded tracks but played the songs in reverse order. Tiffany's version first followed by the track that said "did you know there was a newer version of that song" into the Tommy James. Still a nice little treat. I am impressed with this broad spectrum female based AC.

LOL, what's next? KKKT? I know there's already a KSEX-LP in Dallas...

There was a KKKQ on 1060 in Phoenix (with an Urban format targeting African-Americans!) and a WSEX 92.7 in suburban Chicago years ago. KKKQ disappeared quickly (it became KUKQ, now KDUS), but the WSEX call letters lasted several years.

In fact, Phoenix has had several "questionable" callsigns over the years:

When the Arizona Republic bought then-KFAD 620 in 1929, they changed the call letters to KREP. Somebody there decided that was a really kreppy idea (or maybe listeners thought it was a really kreppy station), so it became KTAR, which it remains today even though the Repulsive sold the station 60 years ago.

In late 1994, KPSN 96.9 became KCHT. Somebody at Bonneville got their secret underwear in a snit, thinking that it sounded like K-S**T so it was changed to KHTC a couple months later. It's now Clear Channel-owned KMXP.

Apparently, Salem thinks nothing about owning a radio station called KKNT, despite the jokes that callsign has generated since it replaced KCTK on 960 in 2002.
