Old School and KRNB are pulling in better numbers than The Beat. Do you think Radio One might try to do the "Ol' Switcharoo" and move Old School to the stronger signal 97.9 and The Beat to the weaker signal 94.5?.....

They should.

They did do it in Philadelphia...

Radio One is not that savvy. Take Houston for example KROI had good numbers as a gospel station. They switched to news/talk, with local rip and read and a couple of syndicated talkers. After 9 months the audience and AQH is down 50%. From a sales view point the previous format was a natural fit with their Urban and Urban AC Stations. Doing stupid things just for the sake of putting your stamp on it is not good business.

I never did understand why they gave up on gospel in Houston the way they did.

It seems I remember a few of the Radio Info experts on the Houston board were crying that there was no all news radio in Houston after KTRH made some programming adjustments.

Radio One, knowing the wealth of knowledge that exists on this piece of bandwidth obviously had a gut reactiion, took a chance and filled the bill.

Be careful what you ask for.

I was and still am. Ratings are horrid, this is true. However, as a Houstonian it sure is good to know that I have a radio station devoted to the news that's happening now. Especially during bad weather. It was a bad idea to kill off a successful format in "Praise 92.1", but where else could have Radio One placed the format? Their other two stations 97-9 The Box and Majic 102 are number 1 and 2 in the market, respectively. "Praise" was the only option. I'm sure it will flip again before year's end if the numbers don't come up, and that will leave us back in the boat with nothing as far as up to the minute news, traffic, and weather.
