What do DirecTV, Showtime, Starz, FX, and of course HBO all have in common?
Along with the History Channel, they have all said "No!" to picking up "The Kennedys" miniseries starring Katie Holmes. Although it'll be shown in Canada on History Channel Canada (wish they went with CBC or CTV) as well as other countries, they are still shopping for a U.S. outlet. Here are the possibilities:
TNT (they haven't done any original movies/miniseries in quite a while)
AMC
USA Network
PBS (I seem to remember the Hallmark Hall of Fame having a home there in the late '70s, but why not? And, they could let WGBH Boston foot the bill!)
WGN America (You may never know; they might, might take a stab at it!)
Pay-Per-View (see WGN America)
Since the miniseries will be seen up north, we in the States may still get to watch it--on YouTube! Which reminds me...
When Part 2 of the "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" Season 3 finale was postponed here until July (in light of the aftermath of the Columbine shootings), it was business as usual in Canada where it aired as scheduled, which led to loyal Buffy fans downloading the episode online. Of course, this was in 1999 way before YouTube when dial-up was still king and the files were in low-quality as opposed to the HD quality we have today.
If "The Kennedys" doesn't get a U.S. home anytime soon, it will be like 1999 all over again.
