Whooooopi Goldberg

Anybody catch the AJC AP story on the new Whoopi show from 5-9am. Here is a quote from Hogan. "The show will air weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.," said John Hogan, president and CEO of Clear Channel Radio. He didn't indicate which markets it would be in when it debuts July 31.Anybody take a guess? Your first two don"t count.

Can't help but wonder who the co-host might be. Ted Danson maybe? Patrick Swayze perhaps?Who in the WORLD would want to "Wake Up With Whoopi"??? Though, it has a ring to it I guess - and, the acronym would fit: WGST (Whoopi Goldberg STation)

I can't imagine Whoopi doing well on WGST; she belongs on Air America. She may be a decent comedienne, but she's an ultra leftist, and when she talks politics, it just isn't funny.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea for WGST to go AC unless it was a simulcast of 94.9 Lite-FM. Even if they did bring Whoopi in on Lite-FM, where does that leave Randy & Spiff?

Clear Channel has plans for this show to go on AC stations not talk.
This could possibly replace Randy and Spiff at 94.9 Lite FM. There have been rumors that they are looking for a way out, and were looking at gigs in Chicago. Given this, and that R&S and Steve Goss are the only local talent left there, CC Atlanta could take advantage of this and cut costs even more.It this comes true (and I hope it does not), Steve Goss will be it for the station. If the current PD leaves or is fired, Mr. Goss could possibly be midday airstaff/MD/PD/OM for 94.9.Now that the station is State Primary for the EAS, understaffing (not just 94.9 but clusterwide) would make it vulnerable to statewide EAS failures. In the end, lets just hope everything stays status quo there (or better yet, more airstaff). As for Whoopi in Atlanta, if the show is not exclusive to CC, 102.5 or WJZZ would make perfect homes for her.I suspect CC is using Whoopi to cut costs nationwide even more (the catalyst for the whole idea)

Whooooopi on a jazz station? Let’s hope not. Years ago when they played jazz on 104.1, I used to rock my youngest baby boy as he drifted to sleep listening to the music. When WJZZ came along and the boy aged a couple of years he would listen and remark to me that this station does not play real jazz and demand that the station be turned off.Can anyone recommend a good contemporary jazz station available via the Internet?

For the Jazz listener, WCLK has real Jazz and also WRFG 89.3 has jazz Mon thru Fri 9pm to 11pm andon Saturdays 9am to 11am and both stations stream on the internet.

WCLK isn't a bad station at all. But when i want a great jazz station I go to the source. www.wwoz.org It's the New Orleans public radio station, and it's great!!!! Non commercial jazz & heritage music. You get jazz, blues, gospel, world music. It's probably one of the best stations I've ever heard, and you can listen via the web.Try it. I think you'll like it!

A minority host on Clear Channel, wouldn't be surprised if Marc Chase resigns.("I never lived in Atlanta because of all the....")
