It's going to happen. Wlll they ever learn that comedians don't translate well to radio? Another disaster in the making but this time dictated by San Antonio.

Don't know who Glenn is, but on the LA Radio website from Don Barrett, Greg Ashlock who is the Clear Channel LA Cluster Kahuna was quoted as saying thatthere is no pressure to carry syndicated shows from CC's Premiere Network. He said that all programming decisions are made at the local level. Now when you think about that statement initially you may think he's blowing smoke, but when you take a look at the roster of Premier shows that don't appear on any of the CC stations in LA it would seem to be true.Personally I don't see Ms. Goldberg as a good fit on any of the LA stations that CC owns. And why in God's name would you speculate that KOST might be a candidate for her show? They have a heritage morning show that just got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and have decent numbers in the ARB as well. Plus, even though Mark & Kim do the usual interviews and games, it's still a music intensive format. Just makes no sense. And what about Hot 92? While it's a move that's possible, I don't think it's really probable. Still, stranger things have happened, but at this point it's anyone's guess what her show will even sound like.

Now that New York has been announced (KTU), L.A. will be announced soon.KOST. No way. KBIG or KHHT. Since they've been talking about a comedian coming to Hot well before the Whoopi deal came down...well, you put 2 and 2 together.

Tuna is the weakest link at KBIG. This show would make the most sense to be on KBIG. And it will be on a Clear Channel Los Angeles station.

With KBIG having over 50% Hispanic cume, how would this show relate to that audience?
The big advantage that Charlie Tuna has over any new show is his recognition factor in the LA Market. KBIG's audience may be 50% Hispanic, but if they grew up in LA they know Tuna.No knock on Whoopie, but she and Cubby from Z100 will be coming from New York, and I'mnot sure what they'll have to offer Angelino's other than the usual topical humor of the nationalvariety. Whoopie is untried as a radio talent as well and removing Charlie for her couldback-fire wildly creating a loss that could be insurmountable… By the way, ever wonderwhat would've happened if KRTH had taken Robert W. Morgan's recommendation and hiredTuna as his replacement all those years ago?

Back to the original subject... Knowing the LA market, Whoopi will be a hard sell. The bigger the star in radio the harder they fall. Sorry, that's a fact, Jack. Listening to the two weeks here in NY leading up to her national show confirms that she will have a short shelf-life.

I still don't get Whoopi - I really think she is now more famous for being famous (the Durwood Kirby Syndrome) than for, say, actually being funny. Her movies have mostly been forgettable affairs (Jumpin' Jack Flash) or ensemble pieces with a lot of genuinely talented folks (Color Purple, Sister Act). She has done those Broadway shows and Comic Relief where she does the same old characters (the Billy Crystal Syndrome), but really there's a reason she's on Hollywood Squares and does most of her acting as a voice in animations. Who knows though, maybe her real talent IS in radio and after all these years she'll find her niche!

Any more thoughts on if CCLA would follow suit with Philly and shuffle KBIG into a Movin' style format (like Seattle's 92.5FM) and throw Whoopi on the air?

However, I've listened to the 106.1 in Philly, and it's nothing like the offical Movin' format in Seattle. The Seattle station sounds much better and is more suited for KBIG.
