hearing Whoopi on WKTU right now. so far I'm not impressed. heard her say it's her first day and so far she's still on the air. I seem to recall Micky Dolenz and Dave lee Roth say the same thing! when are stations in other cities picking up Whoopi? soon? she will be fed by Premiere/clear channel of course.
 
I'm listening to the last half hour of the show (right now it is 8:45AM). I really can't form an opinion yet.

She is going on other stations, including WLIT in Chicago.
 
anyone hear anything about Whoopi being aired soon in Philly? ? ? ?
 
My God! What a train wreck. It's tottaly unlistenable. I know why Woopie did it...she is out of work and can't get a movie roll. What I can't figure out is 1. Why would Clear channel want their very own David Lee Roth? and 2. Why would Cubby do this? he had a cushy spot at Z100 and he jumped on the back of a dead old horse for his first venture in Mornings. Can he even go back to Z after this ship hits an iceberg in 3 months? Ooops!!!!
 
I love that she sounds like a celebrity talking down and not listening to the audience... You have to have something local about you when you talk to an audience. When I heard her start to read a recipe I changed channels... Now what Clear Channel? Hire Paris Hilton to talk about virtues? How do these execs get jobs?
 
Wish I could be there to hear the O&A Pests give her a nice warm "Welcome to NYC Radio"! I heard some of those calls played back on O&A, very funny to hear whoopi not being able to handle it...
 
Whoopi was right about one thing though in her response to those Opie and Anthony morons that called her show, and I'm paraphrasing here: "Opie and Anthony aren't worth the dust that (her friend) Howard Stern stepped on."
 
It boggles my mind sales guys are still pushing fragmentation when google has basically destroyed them at advertising efficency. its all about brand management, and reaching as large and audience as possible. Whoopi clearly cater to one small, aging demo, and I'm not talking trekkers.

Simulcast of Jeopordy would appeal to everyone.

Um.....have you looked at the current status of "HOO HOO Stern" and The dust that is now doing well on all of his old statiosn and broadcasting from his old studio while he broadcasts to a fraction of his old fans? In the good old days of Howard (1985-1995) Howard would have had his listeners do the same thing to Whoopi that O and A did and made a great bit out if it like they did. Now he hangs out with his model in the Hamptons and takes Fridays off. He invented 4 day work weeks. tell 'em Fred.

Howard was the first one to breate air and now these O and A copycats are taking in the oxegen too!!!, and neeyyyahhh K-mart sucks!!! ;D
 
Whoppi needs more time to gain radio experience. While the fools O&A are so immature and childish I cant how adult would care to listen to there childish tricks. They would never be a Howard Stern (and Im not even a howard fan)

Not even close to what I said. I'm saying that Whoopie is a fool for thinking O and A are different than her pal Howie! And if you listened to their show you would see they are very different from Howard and I am a longtime fan of both. Anyone who thinks otherwise either doesn't listen or is a brainwashed Howie fan.

I can't understand how a grown man could write "Childish tricks" (hello 1940) especially when you obviously have never heard the show and more importantly, how an adult can write "there childish tricks" instead of THEIR childish tricks.
There is a big difference between needing more radio experience and having NO radio experience in the number one market in America and having your show forced onto affiliates because you are a talented actress. She spent 20 minutes talking about how to apply sunscreen! In her secong show!

Step away, and be a listener, not a superfan. I'm an O&A fan, but you don't see me going crazy and responding to every single negative thing that's said about O&A here.

Realize that you aren't going to change people's mindsets, especially when it comes to O&A or Stern. You either have to let them listen and make a decision on their own, or drop it.

I'm not a "PEST". I am a fan of both. I was merely recting to a poorly written, off base post. However, your post rings true. People need to actually listen to things before they comment.
 
I actually fell asleep this morning while trying to listen to Whoopi. not sure if it was her or the heat that caused it. Is Jim Ryan of clear channel really producing this show? (Whoopi can be a raw stand up comic. so far----This show seems like trying to have Greaseman or andrew dice clay do a clean radio show!)
