No!

Okay...

Comparing these two... won't work. It's not like the YSP versus MMR war. They're not the same format, therefore they're both great stations and I wouldn't say one is better (and both are my 1 and 2 preset).

YSP vs. MMR isn't exactly the same either, or wasn't when YSP was on analog.

I was more or less referring to it's original active rock format. Although, YSP on HD-3 is Active Rock again, isn't it? I try to pick it up but it drops with-in a second of flipping to the HD-3.

I have to say, I like WMMR better, but my wife likes 104.5. I also have HD radio and MySP HD3 comes in just fine everywhere I go. Only problem is, CBS never updates the catalog. They play a Jelli format that has been unchanged since the station flipped. Same 532 tracks from 122 artists. Seems like more and more people are listening lately, but only in multiples of 10 I think! More songs (10,000) and it would compete with Live Nation on 104.2 HD2.

As others have said, you can't really directly compare but...
My biggest beef with MMR is they seem to be drifting further and further into Classic Rock to the point it gets head scratching. Last night was the Rolling Stones into Godsmack. And when in doubt Led Zep will always appear out of nowhere. Really guys? You own MGK, let them have the lions share of that.

I appreciate Radio 104.5 is all music in the morning, many times I want that rather than the useless hot air of Preston and Steve or anyone else. RFF just needs to make sure that its already tight playlist isn't too tight all the time.

I've never agreed with someone more about radio, period.

There used to be a time where MMR wasn't really comparable to MGK, now it's becoming MGK's closest competitor.. I can't think of any other stations that touch what MGK does in Philly.

It's not MMR's fault, it's the PD - on the stream he said "Hello, it's MMR's Program Director (insert name I forgot here). I choose what music you listen to, if you don't like it then it's my fault. Now here's a stream exclusive classic, we'll always be playing your favorite songs and some new ones too"

It wasn't word for word, but it suggests the MMR PD is more interested in Classic Rock then Modern

Which is why my point on 95.7 or 97.5 being an alternative wouldn't hurt MMR anymore then MGK really does. (or vice versa).

Don't get me wrong, I love Classic Rock and MGK (and like MMR) but... I'd prefer for it to be a more balanced ratio, songs from the 90's and above should be spun at least six in ten tracks on an active rock when the owner also has a classic rock in market.
Also, so no arguements start...

Yes, there is no room for an alternative in this market. (and GM really only has Oldies and CHR left to attempt without hurting it's current formats.)

No, I am not saying MMR wouldn't clash with another Alternative.

Somebody stated that CBS's Jelly format on mYsp plays something like 500 tracks from 122 artests. I was under the impression that Jelly worked with listeners getting to pick the playlist? Or is that a bunch of BS (kinda like the listeners that make requests and the DJ have to play what's hotregardless?) or is it that this station's on HD, nobody knows 'bout it.

It is user controlled, PST convinced me of this.

so could it be that CBS has a lot more to choose from but since nobody's listening (cause nobody knows), there isn't anything being chose so the library just plays whatever?
I remember when it first came on there were certain times of the day I'd hear something 'bout being rocked to the top by XYZ user.
To me that means at least at one point, somebody was listening.
I dont listen to Sports radio or WIP at all, but nobody mentioned before YSP left or on WIP-FM that you could even listen to rock from the HD3, with simular format to old YSP , did they?

Yes....The day WYSP changed to WIP, the HD3 channel went to wMYsp all rock Jelli format....go to www.jelli.com/wysp Sign up and program the station if you want....

This station is known only to people who stumble upon it either with their hd radio or through radio.com. The catalog includes the same songs that were available for the evening program they had with the DJ Gordon. WPST also runs an evening top 40 Jelli show...I think it's top 40...every night.

The songs are typical WYSP songs, but the catalog is not balanced. It did not have to be balanced for a short program like Gordon's. The Jelli thing is actually pretty neat, but to go full time the catalog should be expanded, because the human mind can pick up on the fact that the same songs keep playing over and over. Other Jelli stations have thousands of songs vs. the 500 available on MYSP now. If you listen to the station IDs between songs, it is very professional and impressive....but then the same old songs. If they would expand the catalog and let someone know the station exists, it would gain at least a cult following. I don't understand why CBS wouldn't at least expand the catalog, unless it somehow costs them money to do it. Hopefully, they will some day. I check most every day!

YSP is user controlled via Jelli. You can put any song you want on the air. Sadly....very little competition. go to www.jelli.com/wysp

Sign up, rocket your song to the top and listen on HD3, radio.com or Jelli itself.
