Who's flipping next?

Anybody care to speculate on which station will flip format next? Ans I mean of the big signals, not translators.

My guess is that 96.1 may be next. The 12+ numbers are horrible. Maybe someone who gets to see the breakouts can tell us how it bills, or what numbers it gets in key demos.

I have no guess as to what it might flip to, except maybe a pop-hits oldies station like WCBS 101.1 in NYC. Something to take a little off The River. 70s/80s/90s

Very doubtful that 96.1 would flip. It's the only iHeart Atlanta station that's in the top 10 in the money demos.

My bet is Power 105.3 and El Patron 96.7. Both are underperforming, but especially Power 105.3.

I think they should bring back 96 Rock (not necessarily on 96.1) to grab some of the The River's listeners.

Another format hole is Christian Contemporary now that Fish is gone. No idea how they billed, but they always got good ratings.

Well, they're not going to flip 96.1 this soon after they put it on that frequency and spent considerable resources to do so including all the marketing.

96.7 is not really good for much. It's a small signal in the shadow of the Atlanta stations.

I don't agree that there's a hole in the market for Christian Contemporary. It's on 3 FM signals if you include 93.3. True, all are non-commercial, but they still play the music and have personalities. There's not enough audience to be divided among 4 stations aside from the fact that the companies owning stations in Atlanta don't do the format.

There's a reason the non-commercial CCMs have swept away nearly all the commercial CCMs across the country. Where has a commercial CCM launched against K-Love and won? Salem's "Fish" stations existed before K-Love.

WSTR is perennially at risk of a flip. Could Audacy import the classic hits format from CBS-FM and WOGL?

Well with Fish gone, I am not sure if we will have a 100% All-Christmas music format.

I think Power 105.3 was such a waste. It was doomed from the beginning.

WSTR should flip to AC or Classic Hits and keep B98.5 on its toes.

The Latino stations always bill well.

iHeart has an online version of 96 Rock on iHeartRadio. 96 Rock | iHeart

Of course, there are no personalities (except for liners) and no spots.

Oddly, iHeart doesn't have it on an HD subchannel. Many of the iHeartRadio "online" stations actually air somewhere in the nation on some station's HD subchannel; for example, the Classic AT40 station is on an HD subchannel of a real station. I wonder if that gives them a break on royalties or something.

IIRC Southside Steve is available if he wants to come back, and I think they could get Christopher Rude to come back from WJBB.

If they put 96 Rock on 105.3 it would do decent, limited by its signal.

Southside Steve does mornings on FOX FM, which is now on 3 signals (102.1 east and central), 100.1 (west) and 99.3 (south).
Thanks for the correction. He had posted something on social media that I took as being he was looking for a new gig.

I say 105.3 should go A/C I don't think Atlanta has an A/C. Only a soft a/c.
It's the other way around. B98.5, here is a more recurrent based AC. But what we're missing is a true, Gold-based AC like other major markets have.

Those AC's only play a current hit once, maybe twice an hour. A perfect example is WBBQ/Augusta or better yet WLTW/New York. Both are long time, top rated stations in those markets.

In fact, the other day, B98.5 played "Ride With Me by Nelly. Complete with rap verse and weed bong sound effect. Sorry but that's just a bit much for an AC station. Lol

B98.5 does not, and I might be mistaken by saying this, is not your typical AC station that soccer moms listen to. Not even close.

I wish they would at least move Power to 105.7. I thought for sure 98.9 would have flipped to something else by now.
I wish they would too! We would have Power back in the northern suburbs again. Funny thing is, it would be full circle, back to where we were in 2012, kind of. Lol How successful would a possible "Z105.3" be as a Latin top 40 on the south side tho? It would definitely cover Atlanta proper. Where as 105.7 doesn't really cover the city as much.

I assume the majority of families live in the suburbs so putting a true AC station (i.e., Sunny 99.1 in Houston) up north could make sense for 105.3 or 105.7/. Probably an AC station right in the city wouldn't attract much due to demographics. And now that Fish is gone, someone is going to have to fill that Christmas music-void. And don't call the station, "Peach" - sounds too cheesy lol.

The Peach name has a lot of BM/EZ and AC heritage in ATL.
