Who's flipping next?

Could anyone care to speculate which station is flipping format next?

Given there aren’t any locally-based commercial talk stations anymore in the media market, it’s hard to tell. 810, 910 and 960 all had local talk in the past and now all run nationally syndicated fare. I don’t see else what could flip from those. 560, for sure.

KBLX or KRBQ
KVVF

I don’t think we see many flips. Radio isn’t doing well. If we do, it’ll be a low cost format that fits advertising demos more and is cutting out stations that are weaker in terms of reach and format fitting into portfolio.

Overall, cost cutting is the focus, not format switches. I think we may see less on air talent this year again, as well as further studio consolidation.

It’s sad, but it’s 2025. It is a shame I was not around for the golden age of radio. Being in your 20’s and finding radio as an interest robs you of that experience of the era that gives you an appreciation of an art, of which is now just business being run without much love.
