Who's got IBOC in NYC?

nd2023

Banned
So far:
710, 95.5, 97.1, 100.3, 102.7, 103.5, 104.3, 105.1, 105.9, and 106.7 are currently spewing out IBOC trash. Did I miss any, and what other stations will get IBOC soon?

In a way, I'm sort of glad that KTU has IBOC because it kills WPRB's useless signal (I would rather hear IBOC hash than WPRB).<P ID="signature">______________

IBOC = Mutually Assured Destruction

You can joke about it, but the adjacent-channel IBOC interference is no fun for listeners in Central NJ who are trying to have any kind of listenable FM reception from either NYC or Philly. There are many hills and valleys in which the NYC stations are rendered totally unlistable due to adjacent-channel IBOC hash from neighboring Philly stations, even within their protected signal contours.

For example, there is now mutual destruction between NYC's 102.7 WNEW and Philly's 102.9 WMGK, between NYC's 95.5 WPLJ and Philly's 95.7 WBEN-FM, and on several other channels as well. Just look at the Trenton ratings for WPLJ -- they've gone down sharply since 95.7 turned on their IBOC. WPLJ is now mostly unlistenable in Trenton because of it, thus causing this massive loss of listenership. And I thought stations are going for digital radio because they want more listeners, not less! IBOC is complete foolishness. Radio is already heading downhill fast, and IBOC will just add a tailwind!

It's also made using the "scan" feature on the dial a complete pain in the a**, as most tuners also stop on the sideband frequencies now as if they are actual stations.
