who's got the best website/streaming in central PA

Hands down it has to go to Dave Barger's Altoona cluster. One of the best looking websites of any radio station I have seen ANYWHERE! And the streaming is GREAT! WRTA sounds like some kind of 50,000 watt blowtorch out of a major market. "Professionalism" has to be this broadcaster's middle name although I don't always agree with his opinions when he's doing the talk block.

Forever canned all of their web streams for budgetary reasons.

WPSU does have a good site--now they just need to get some good programming.

I really like the new Barger sites. The streams are awesome and they use a cool looking flash player that works great on my MacBook. I don't have to deal with a windows media stream and that is a big plus. Those sites also have a lot of information and I have no trouble finding anything.

I am disappointed that Forever killed the web streams--that is the future of radio. It's like saying "we'll have to turn off our transmitter for budgetary reasons." At least that's my opinion. I don't know anyone who uses an actual radio in my building. We can't pick up many (or in some spots, any) stations in this building. I tried it--and I have a window. I did not get any AM stations and I got only 2 fm stations that were listenable. We all stream radio over our computers.

I know that a lot of people sitting in the office are listening to the local stations online. Streaming online will not only help your ratings and station loyalty, but it should also make some money if you are willing to sell spots.

That's funny considering QWK ROCK 103.1's Web Stream begins this Friday.

So what does that mean? Could they not afford a new computer for QWK? Did they have to take from WALY to give to QWK?

mymix947.com.....#1 hands down! Thumbs Up, WAAYY UP!

Hold the phone satelite man. My Mix is great but I prefer WRTA. You can get Dave Barger's opinions and find out what he is realy thinking. Not to mention you can keep an ear on the Penn State professor in the afternoons. There's a couple of clowns on this board that should get his "dope of the day" and "weasel of the week" award. I won't mention names...

I've been wondering, is the WRTA professor the same guy that used to do the Barnyard Rocker on Q94 Sunday nights? That guy really seemed to like 'homegrown'
..eh entertainers that is. Is there a secret to getting to the WRTA website? Everytime I type in WRTA I get the Washington Metro Transit Authority and the
schedule for the Red Line from Shady Grove to Glenmont, what's up with that.

You might know a lot about installing satelites Mr. Satelite man but you don't know beans about the danged internet. To access WRTA, simply type "wrta.com" into your computer. Be sure and click on "staff "and enjoy the cool Sean McKay website. I wonder when McKay is going to update that crazy thing.
As for the professor...NO! They are two different people. The guy who walks like a duck and bobs his head is the professor of rock and roll. He is a bleeding heart left wing liberal. WRTA's professor in the afternoon is a right wing conservative libertarian who thinks George Bush was a little too far to the left. He walks normal and doesn't bob his head. They are both cool guys. I note that the WRTA professor in the afternoons seems a little less than pleased with Mr. Obama's first speech as our president.
