Who's the man ? I think Koz, Jim Kozimor is the man when it comes to Sacrament

Hey guys just wondering if you were to only have one choice , who would you say is the man. ot the best in Sacramento radio. ?

Well this is hard for me I like so many radio host but I were to pick the Man.

The man would have to be Jim Kozimor. Koz is funny , he know sports, he is always nice to the fans and callers and listeners, Koz is the man he is diffinetly tops when it come to Sacramento radio.

Thank you Koz, if you are out there readiing this you are the man . you and Jason Ross have a great show, 24 second shot clock rules , Koz you rule, you do a good job on Kings talking and on tv for Sacramento Kings House Party live and for Raiders Press Conference with Coach Lane kiffin, Koz wether it's radio or tv you do a great job, thank you for being my friend .

God bless you everyone , and who do you think the man is ? I think the man is Jim Kozimor .

from your friend Phillip from Galt !!

Phillip,
I appreciate the fact that you are a big fan of radio. However, if I'm not mistaken, you have posted that Jim Crandell is "The Man". In addition, you have posted that Davey D is "The Man". So..who really is "The Man"?

Ha ha!!! You guys really crack me up!!!

You're right though, Sacramento really doesn't have a 'The Man' at all. San Francisco always has a 'The Man', but not us. Heck, Dr. Don Rose was 'The Man' for so many years of my life, he is always the first to come to mind. Growing up, I sometimes would tune in Joey Mitchell on KRAK or even Frank and Mike on KNBR (I miss the O'Bradley, O'Bradley report!!).

Recent memory brings up local names like DJ Walker on KATM or (to a lesser degree) Amanda King on KWIN. I think a little harder and can come up with names like Lee Rodgers and Dave Sholin from the bay and names like Paul and Phil from around here. But, bobody these days really stands out as 'The Man'. It sounds like I am not alone in this belief, except for our enthusiastic spaz of a friend in Galt!! Props to you, Phil for your energy!!!

Jim Kozimor does a nice job in a niche format...Phil the question is what else can he do ? A two hour show isn't
the most taxing gig to roll down the pike...My vote for old school "the man"...Dave Williams and Bob Nathan, honory mention to the late Rick Stewart who passed a year ago this week, god bless you Rick.

Re: Who's the man ? I think Koz, Jim Kozimor is the man when it comes to Sacra

I'd say another "the man" would have to be Walt Shaw. He's a class act, has survived more GMs, PD's and station owners than anyone else in the market. He's also one heck of a guy.

Of course, I agree with "old radio jock" about the late Rick Stewart as well.

I have to agree with you about Dr. Don Rose. You bring up D.J. Walker and to a lesser degree Amanda King, But what about BILL JEFFRIES? I always thought he was The Man for Stockton radio inthe 1980's, even moreso than let's say D.J. Walker and Amanda King. For Sacramento, How about KROY's JOHNNY HYDE?

I've been out of the market for awhile. Are you talking about the same Rick Stewart who worked at Y92 and later did afternoon drive at Cool and production at the Wolf?

Cast my votes for Walt Shaw {The Survivor}, the late and remarkably funny Rick Stewart, and the everlasting Joey Mitchell.....either at various stations or in other events, I had the pleasure of working with all three gentlemen and the memories are treasured & golden.....

But the overall concept that, right now, Sacramento radio doesn't have "The Man" is correct....no Dr. Don Rose, or the absolutely dominant Don Sherwood....nope...not here....

Bob Keller has done a great job as "the Man" at ZAP and the Eagle. Tony Cox made a valiant attempt at reclaiming "the Man" status before they ripped the rug out from underneath him at Entravision. And Kitty O' Neil would definitely be " the Woman."

I am guessing that in order to be "The Man", They would have to have some sort of longevity in a certain market or be with a certain radio station for a long time or be able to work with different music formats? That sure does sound like JOEY MITCHELL or RICK STEWART, but how other names such as BIG JIM HALL (KRAK, KHYL, KSSJ, KCCL)? Or how about PAT STILL? He is currently at Country Powerhouse KNCI-105.1 but also worked at AOR KZAP-98.5 and Alternative KWOD-106.5? But the DJ I think is close to being "The Man" maybe the legendary DUSTY MORGAN? He was at KXOA-K108 FM for the longest time (1970's and 1980's) as well as its AM Sister Station, CRUISIN' 1470 KXOA. Don't know where is at today? But I do agree on both DR. DON ROSE AND DON SHERWOOD for the San Francisco area, though I would also add GENE NELSON?

Gene Nelson! God, I used to love it when he did overnights on KSFO, just before Don Sherwood, and he said several times on the air {and in my lone conversation with him} that when the studio phone lit up at 5:55am, he knew it was that S.O.B. Sherwood {suffering from the aftermath of a very intentional overdose of alcohol} saying he was sorry but couldn't make it for his shift, which of course, started at 6AM......

You could hear the chill in Nelson's voice when he came back from spots...always a pro, but you could hear it.......

As to my earlier point.....right now, Sacramento simply doesn't have a serious "The Man" candidate.....as for "The Woman", the charming Ms. O'Neal would get my vote {Rick Stewart told me she was to be treated like a goddess when I was at CC, and I did as instructed}.....I sincerely hope when the time comes, she gets to leave KFBK on her terms, not finish a Friday shift and get an envelope handed to her on the way outta that messy newsroom...but the way the suits are slashing, do not be surprised.....

Brotha, Please...

The last "The Man" in the market was The Dave back when he was on k-wod!

I think you meant to post that in the "Who is 'The ******bag' ?" thread....

Sorry. Had to be done!

I would certainly agree that Kitty would be Tha woMAN! No question there. Name recognition, talent, looks (still a little bit) and market respect. I suppose it is only a matter of time before the bean counters at Clear Channel decide they can save money by replacing her with a minimum wage monkey the way they did Melanie Morgan.

If Armstrong and Getty hang around long enough, maybe Jack can earn the label 'Tha MAN'. Who knows...

Memo to Clear Channel... Hey, just look at how much money you save when you fire high paid air talent. Just imagine how much money you would save if you fired EVERYONE??!! Trim your product down to zilch, and then wonder why nobody listens to it. Brilliant!

Re: Who's the man ? I think Koz, Jim Kozimor is the man when it comes to Sacra

Andy Sims he is funny plus I love KWOD!

Sims has gotten the shaft in that building... he needs to be featured more as "the man" at his own station. His chops are far more advanced than anyone elses in that uptight, clown shack.
