Who's the New AAR Late Night host?

One month ago I made a post on this board stating that AAR had picked Jon Elliott to be it's new late night host replacing Mike Malloy who was fired about a week earlier. I based my statement on some confidential information that I received from someone at AAR. Within a few days it was starting to look more confusing. There were rumors that the new host would be Laura Flanders or Peter Werbe. I backed off and the thread was dropped. Now Jon Elliott is once again the late night host on AAR and I am starting to think that my source at AAR was right on this one. Don't check the AAR webpage. Peter Werbe is still listed.

From what I gather from the Internet, Jon said on his KLSD show that he's just doing this week.

Honestly, I don't think AAR is going to replace Malloy. They're either going to have a rotating guest host for the 10 PM slot, or they're going to eventually end their broadcast day at 10 PM, and play reruns until 5 AM.

None of the Above

Maybe some at AAR would like to keep the 10 pm to 1 am slot going. Maybe they think they should keep it going.
At some point, reality will set in and they will conceed the slot to Lionel (and/or Colmes).

Next: They should bow out of 9 am to 12 noon and conceed Stephanie Miller is doing a better show than anything they could (or have) put on - something most station PDs have already realized (except for the turnkeys with no real PD). Then pull the plug on 6 pm to 10 pm, too and feed a repeat of Randi for the convenience of stations who want to run the show on delay. With the exposure Maddow, Seder and Malloy have gotten from AAR, the should be able to pick up major market local gigs - and what progressive talk needs is strong local shows, not more syndicated product.

The only way AAR should keep feeding shows outside 12 noon to 6 pm is if they pick up some outside show (like The Young Turks is or Jerry Springer was) for distribution. Time to face facts and downsize. If their purpose is to to break the rightie monopoly on talk radio, OK it's happened. Apparently some at AAR would like an AAR monopoly on progressive talk radio; well, it ain't happening. Wake up and smell the coffee.
