Probably WGHB that went on the air in 1925 on 1130 running 500 watts from Clearwater. It became WFHH in early1927 and WFLA in late 1927. It changed frequencies many times ending up on 620 in 1929 sharing time between WFLA and WSUN. WFLA moved to 940 in January 1941, ending up on 970 in March 1941. WSUN remained on 620.
Naaaah..It's the first WTAN site..if you look closely at the far right of the lower six windows on the left of the church, you can see Lola leaning out, looking up at the antenna to make sure birds are not sitting up there shorting out the songs. "Stupid birds..they're all IDIOTS"
When did the big transformation from horizontal to vertical happen, and did it happen overnight or did it take perhaps a decade?
Most pics I see from the 1920's show multiple horizontal wires, whereas the 1930's seemed to have underwent an explosion of directional and omnidirectional vertical radiators including those much beloved Blau-Knox sticks.
When were car radios installed with wires under their running boards and when did they move to outside the vehicles?
