Whose towers are those?

Just got back from a trip to Abq and bumped into a few tower sites while getting lost. Right across the way from KKOB's site on Edith at around 107th St is a 5 tower array. I can't find any AM with such an array, what exactly is this site? Somebody there told me it was "some AM".

Also, what's up with KDEF? What do they do? They are not at either their license address or the address in the phone book. No phone numbers work (or they are answered by a residence). Are they still doing oldies with news? Someone even told me their offices are up very close to the aforementioned area on Edith at 102nd, but no sign of them. ???

You must have been more lost than you realized. Unless I'm wrong, and I've lived in the Albuquerque metro over 40 years, Edith Blvd does not cross 107th. Edith runs north/south and 107th is (parallel to Edith) on the West side of town . KKOB-AM towers are way out on the north end of Albuq. Check your map and be more specific.

I believe there is an antenna farm off Edith, north of Alameda for three AM's: KDEF, KKNS and KALY. This is near the big sticks for KKOB between 2nd and 4th Streets. KDEF does have a website: www.kool1150.com They have been doing a combo of local sports and oldies.

Hi. Longtime radio junkie, first time poster. That kool1150.com web site is gone. Anybody know what happened? KDEF is doing sports and CNN. Haven't heard oldies in weeks.

They are a mystery. Heard a rumor there are studios on 4th Street somewhere.
