As most Clear Channel stations across the country in the last few years have been adding the "point-number" to their stations' names, WHRK now has a new logo and (I'm guessing) now saying "K97 POINT 1."

I liked the old logo better, I think the new one is plain.

Just recently WKKV Milwaukee changed their 13-year name "V100" to "V100 POINT 7"

Such is the nature of "The Borg" - aka Clear Channel, aka The Evil Empire - all will look and sound the same. Individuality is discouraged - kinda like communism.

Just my opinion of it.

Zeke, My friend, have you thought that the reason for the adjustment is to make it more clear to the masses? I know the general reaction to that statement is "What about heritage? The listeners already know what they are listening to." But the younger listeners have a very short attention span and it helps if things are spelled out a little for them. As for Clear Channel being EVIL, I am sick of hearing it. Just like any other company that has lots of locations spread out all over the country, IT DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU ARE. I have worked for some good companies over the years, including a couple in Memphis. I have heard some horror stories from other Clear Channel clusters, but I love it at Clear Channel Tupelo! These are some great people. Plus, upper management let's me do my job. They want to stay informed, but I get to make the decisions for my station. No one from corporate tells me what music to play, where the commercials play, who does the imaging, or what day part gets vt'ed. The fact is we arre live and local from 5 A to 7 P with Lia 7 to Mid and a local vt'er from midnite to 5a. We do not import any talent. My morning guy is imported in other markets. As for other CC markets, I have been to several format meeting and have never heard anything bad about the company from anyone. Even at 3 am when everyone is drunk and the suits are holed up in their rooms.

AND... I know things have changed within the corporate structure over the years. Practices that were common in the company 5 years ago are frowned upon now. Like any good company, it evolves. Is Clear Channel perfect? NO! But it is better than most. They give me the tools I need to do my job better, such as regional and national research and idea sharing.

Zeke, I hope you understand I am not attacking you. These comments go to the whole board because it feels like there are a few people that have a vendetta against CC. I just wanted people to hear the truth from my side of things. And if anyone thinks I am trying to suck up to someone for a raise or promotion, forget it. I am very happy where I am and I will get my small but deserved raise after the first of the year like everyone else.

Flame away!

Damn that was good Bill (not taking sides here Zeke). As Zeke said it was just his opinion and there are some markets where working for CC is not as pleasant as your situation from what I’ve heard. I’m sure it depends on the people and not just the company. You made your point and you did it without calling anyone names or insulting their intelligence. I would really like to see this board follow your lead and state what is on their mind without the personal attacks. I worked for Clear Channel when it was Jaycor. That was years ago, it’s good to hear that they are making adjustments. I think that if you are treated right by any company they deserve your respect and dedication. I think it would be great working for some one like Tim Spencer. I have known him for years (when he was in Dallas). By the way I AM sucking up! Lol I’m glad that you are doing so well there and you are able to do your job the way you see it needs to be done. Good to hear from you, even though it was indirectly.

Ok I've edited this twice - I'd originally left a big disertation as to why I bash CC. But - I figure those reasons are just my own. I'm glad for you Bill, you got what you wanted going in. That's the way to do it.

My reasons for not-liking CC are many and still haunt me to this day - I never had a company take advantage of me like they did. And you know I worked for Duke in Jonesboro, so that's saying alot.

Do I have a "vendetta" against CC - ... some may call it that.

From this point forward I'm going to use this quote for Clear Channel...

"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

And with that I bid you a good day.
Edited by Zeke Terry on 08/11/05 03:08 PM.

and a good day to you, too, Zeke.

one thing I meant to put in my post is this...

we are all entitled to our opinions! I don't want you to think that your opinion offends me because it doesn't. I think it's great to express opinions on this board. I just felt my opinion needed to be expressed since I am obviously in the minority about CC. And besides I am way behind on posts and I need to catch up with CFKane!

Hey EG, let's load up the alpacas and let them poop on the Flinn parking lot! Doc would have Biggs selling it as fertlizer!!!! Another Flinn Enterprise.

later!
