The WHSS license auction was scheduled for this afternoon. Has anyone heard who bought it or what it sold for?

Apparently Sacred Heart snapped it up for $156K for 200 watts. What do you think of that?

So what's going to happen, is Sacred Heart just going to simulcast WNOP/740 AM, which they also own? And could they, in turn, sell off WNOP?

No, I seriously doubt it. They bought the CP for WNOP-FM in Versailles a year ago and are interested in expanding. WNOP-FM is also on 89.5. So it was a good move for them.

Stereo Lane...was their stick at 9696 Stereo Lane or some other cutesy address? Seems that was east of 27 before ya get to Millville? Or was some other station on "stereo lane"? I left Cincinnati 33 years ago & have forgotten a lot, but that term 'stereo lane' rings some kind of bell.

LONG before WNOP-AM was broadcasting all the religious stuff that they do now; WNOP-AM was the home of Real Jazz 740 AM back in the mid to late 90s/early 2000s?

I remember when WNOP-AM Real Jazz went off the air; there was a HUGE Send off Concert that was held at the 20th Century Theater over in Madison. A bunch of local and regional jazz acts performed. The show was recorded by Norwood Community Television. I was one of the Camera Operators for that show. I think if I remember correctly, Jim Timmerman (former Channel 9 Production Director) was involved with it as well...

WNOP's Jazz heritage goes farther back than the 90's. They had been playing Jazz for a long time before I worked there 1973-1975.

Indeed you did; they started playing jazz in 1962! This station, probably more than any other in Cincinnati, was one-of-a-kind!

This can increase its coverage to not just Hamilton but also (potentially with a power upgrade CP) Middletown and the southern portions of the Dayton area where Radio Maria's signal (WULM Springfield) fades out. Will air EWTN Global Radio Network..same as WNOP-AM
