WHVW 950, do they follow a format ?

WHVW has a mixed bag of oldies and rarely heard anywhere else bluegrass. Morning drive is mostly oldies, some unusual stuff there too. They used to play Classical music in the evenings; I don't know if they still do. I far as I know the have a paid staff of one , Joseph Ferraro, the owner, who plays what he likes. Other people heard on 950 are either volunteers or leasing time.

I believe Pirate Jo is/was the owner Joseph Ferraro. I don't listen to WHVW so I do not know much about what they actually do, but according to the schedule you mentioned the show is on three days a week . The station has a tiny but loyal audience. Although I don't like it, Joe has somehow managed to keep 950 going for a long time with a minimal budget. I will give them this , they sound better than WCKL!

Hmm--format--- nah. It's what everybody wants to play. Curt Robert's morning drive oldies show was a Gem, with a dynamite Jock with a super library that he bought with his own $$$. Forced out by the owner. Now there's a person who plays what she wants, jazz ,comes and goes when she pleases. The Owner has alienated anyone who could do him any good. Debt up to the eyeballs. Try to sell advertising to a potential client when you dont have a format. The inmates run the asylum at WHVW. Nobody wants to get out of bed to do a show. Whatta waste.....the place could make money..

oldies4ever ???

Wow would be great if they could get Curt Robers back...BTW, does WHVW have any commercials on the station ?

No commercials--no one with enough ambition to go out and sell advertising. And where does a radio station make its $$$??? Advertising. When you hear a commercial radio station with no advertising, its not good. Only thing keeping it afloat is paid airtime sales..I think they even lost Centralk Hudson's almanac.....

I'm hearing a country music show on WHVW Sunday afternoon called Hillbilly Country...didn't hear the DJ's name, anyone know who hosts this show ?
