Whvw: M.i.a.

It's not the first time in the last few years that Poughkeepsie's little WHVW-950 AM has gone silent, but we are going on 48 hours now. Anybody know if it's a(nother) temporary technical issue, or if the station's many creditors have finally run out of patience, or exactly what is going on there now?

They are back on the air, as of 6AM today at least. You have to remember they are still working with the original 50 year old transmitter, which contains tubes that are not easy to locate quickly.

The tubes and stuff they need to keep the old Continental Transmitter going are available, he just doesnt want to pay for them and still owes for the last ones he needed. Sooner or later the inevitable will happen; you can only dodge your creditors for so long. I'm surprised he has stayed on as lone as he has. Not sure, think I heard them on yesterday. I don't listen at all. Shame--as a little niche station it could do ok if managed properly.....
