WHWH--staying or going?

I thought they had to give up the 1350 frequency this year as the "parent" of an expanded band station, but just before 9 this morning they ran one of those boilerplate legal announcements about applying for a renewal of their license effective June 1. What's their status?

As far as I know Its going away
Nassau is an LMA so they may have just played that on all the stations they aIr On.

What's the reason why stations need to anncounce that they are up for license renewal?.....Yesterday I heard 107.1 WXPK in Westchester announce during their commecial break they they were up for license renewal on June 1, 2006....It was the first time I ever heard a station do this......I never realized that all stations had to do this until I saw this post.
______________

Now, don't quote me on this, but it is possible that WHWH has managed to slip through a loophole in the rules because the X-band station on 1680 was sold off recently.

Re: Speaking Of Those License Renewal Announcements:

It was explained to us at our college station that since the ultimate purpose of FM radio is to serve the community, they run these promos to let the public know, as well as ask for feedback from the public that would help the renewal process (which has become less significant in recent years since the process for renewal isn't as complicated as ages ago)

Re: Speaking Of Those License Renewal Announcements:

I announced a license renewal message myself on WWPH 107.9 yesterday afternoon. The FCC requires us to do a lot for this. We had to announce it on the air, log it in the discrepancy log, and on a separate page with the times we aired it, as well as tape every time the message was announced. The messages have to be read on the 1st and 16th of every month until June 1st. The reason for this is so that the public can respond to license renewal in case they are objected to it.
______________

MRBI multicultural radio broadcasting inc

1680 moved down to lindenwould,NJ but was not Sold..
It states on the license that the station will have to go dark in 2006...
meaning 1350
