Why are vintage Lehigh Valley airchecks so hard to find?

I suppose that this post might be more appropriate on the aircheck collectors board, but I thought I'd pose it to the people who understand the LV market. I am wondering why it is so hard to find recordings of LV stations from back in the day: WAEB AM when they were trying to sound like WABC, WSAN playing progressive rock on AM, etc. the only one I have found is an aircheck from WEEX from 1977 on www.airchexx.com. I can't imagine that no one else recorded those stations back then.

i have clips of the wooden sound machine on WSAN from 1977.mostly the great soul stuff john wood was playing then.there is one segment of the wood talking.no id's.i should have taped all that.and one aircheck of "the daver" on WAEB also from 1977.that daver gave me at WMUH 10 years ago.what's sad is most of us valley radio geeks never taped airchecks.i miss all AM stations.that includes 1470 WSAN.the best progessive rock station the valley ever had.

Once you have digitized your recordings, the best bet is to compress them down to MP3 format so they aren't so large, then upload them to www.yousendit.com. the files will stay up there for 7 days, or 25 downloads, whichever comes first. You can post the link to each file right here and we can all enjoy them. would totally love to hear some old Lehigh Valley AM radio from the 70s.

I'd love to hear some old airchecks. Spent 10 yrs on the air....nary an inch of tape to show for it!

WSAN Jingles 1982

I have some WSAN & WXKW airchecks from 1981-1984. The best is for jingle fans: I had the displeasure of being the last jock on for the WSAN format change from country to "Unforgettable" on September 9, 1982. I airchecked it and played all the jingles near the end. It was the "Everyone's Coming Up A Winner" package. You can hear it here:

I have airchecks of myself on WGPA, WLVR, and WDIY going back at least 10 years. I will put them on cd and sell them for a nominal fee. Let me know if interested.

I think finding air checks of the late 70's radio from the Lehigh Valley are hard to find because the people involved in radio at that time weren't looking for personal glory or didn't need to look for new jobs every six months or so.

I know that as hard as I've tried I can't find any air checks of my late husband Joey Alberts/Johnny Kostas from the 70's & 80's. Would love to have them or at least stories about him to use in a memorial website.
So if there are any WAEB or Laser 104 jocks out there with any memories of Joe please let me know.
