Why Can't I See Maine Public Television?

I have a lakeside cottage in East Wakefield NH, just a mile or two from the Maine border. It's just north of where Route 153 and Route 110 cross. Being lakeside, my elevation is just above water level, not very high.

I have a good rotating rooftop antenna, an antenna booster and a Magnovox digital converter. Here's my line-up of TV stations (milage from www.TVFool.com):

6 (DTV 44) WCSH NBC Portland 20.6 miles
8 (DTV 8) WMTW ABC Poland Spring 18.3 miles
9 (DTV 9) WMUR ABC Manchester 53 miles
11 (DTV 11) WENH PBS Durham 35 miles
13 (DTV 38) WGME CBS Portland 31.8 miles
21 (DTV 33) WPXN Ion Concord 42 miles

Sometimes at night and early morning, I can get some of the Boston channels: WBZ, WHDH, WGBH, WCVB and WFXT come in a few nights a week. WBZ and WHDH are the best.

But I can't even get a blip on WMEA 26 (DTV 45) Biddeford, even though TV Fool says its the closest station to me, only 17 miles away. The tower is on a mountain in Sanford Maine. I think it's odd that my strongest station is on VHF, WENH, 35 miles away. And I get a great signal from WMUR, also on a VHF channel 53 miles away. (In digital TV, VHF is inferior to UHF for distance.)
I'm glad I get at least one PBS channel, WENH 11, which also has a subchannel "Explore".

But I'm puzzeled why WMEA doesn't come in despite being nearby. Nor does the other MPBN station in the Portland-area, WCBB Augusta DTV 10. (We only use the cottage in the summer, so getting satellite or cable would be impractical.)

Use the search box at the bottom right to search for "East Wakefield, NH" and you'll see some holes in the coverage caused by local terrain. Without knowing your exact location, it's tough to say if you're in one or not, but it's the most likely explanation.
