Why couldn't they have this when I was in High School?

Was listening to some Regaeeton music on LaMega 910 last night and they had a commercial for An All Ages High School Party at Club 290 to be held on Sunday 2/19. The school with the most students in attendance will get a dance at their school this spring with DJs from LaMega 910 on the turntables.

Why couldn't they have something like this when I was in high school? No radio station ever broadcast from or dj any dances at my school in the 4 years I was there.

Of course when I graduated HS in 2000 radio was different in CT. The only choice for Urban music was 910 AM. And the most popular Spanish Stations among my friends at school were LaBrava 990 AM and Mega 1230AM.

Unless you went to either Bulkeley or Hartford Public, there is no chance you would've won this contest anyway.

Everyone forgets the college and high school stations, many had urban music back as far as the late 60's. It might not have been 24/7, but it was there and you just had to tune around when one would finish another would start, maybe not back to back (WESU's "Music for the people" would be on from 6-9pm and then an hour or two later, WRTC had the "Thought Power Crew" and others at better hours)
