Why did 620 replay the Cardinals game tonite?

What the hell? Replaying a regular season game the next day?

Geez, you'd think sports radio would be original.

We're you expecting a 9 second tribute to this season's D'backs? Given the significance of the Cards win over Noo Yawk and the fact Sports Parking Lot 6~Twenty is 1/2 of the Flagship station, this was a smart move! Now...back to the Phoenix Mercury.

Because live NFL football that doesn't involve the Cards is carried on XTRA 910.

KTAR had nothing else to program that anyone would bother to listen to. They could carry a rerun of the Cards game or have a live host talk about the Cards game. Since most sports fans were either listening or (more likely) watching the Eagles/Redskins game, what they did was the lesser of two evils.

They got hard-core Cards fans - all 500 or so that would bother listening, which is better than the zero non-TMISU employees that would have listened otherwise.

I heard they are going to replay the Arizona Wranglers vs Oakland Invaders game tonight.

That might be fun to listen to as long as it's the 1984 version of the Wranglers and not the gosh-awful 1983 crew!

Sorry, its the 1983 version. Alan Risher, he sure is a great quarterback isn't he? Coach Shively has a great future.

"There's a hot new brand of football, fast and tough and mean, The Arizona Wranglers, pro football's hot new team. Catch fire with the Wranglers, the excitement will make you scream (Yeaah!) The Arizona Wranglers, pro football's hot new team"

(and yes, I have a full set of USFL football cards)

wait a minute....gotta tune that Ancient Modulation dial over to 5~Fifty for The Arizona Wranglers on Kay Oh Why!

Not to be outdone, I have a set of Sunny 97 KPSN DJ "baseball" cards.
IIRC, I have the Stevemeister's autograph on his card.

Now if I could only find them...
