Why did 97X sound like....

...they were broadcasting from a tunnel this morning? It was like listening to an old hi-fi stereo system where the controls were set on mono and not stereo.
I know that Cox has some issues with the way 101.5 sounds at times outside of their morning and afternoon drive shows, but what I heard this morning on 97X was somewhat perturbing.
