why do some mp3s start out ok & fuzz up 1/2 way thru?

I pull songs off LimeWire sometimes & feed them into Adobe Audition to try to "clean them up" before using them. Some are decent, some are fixable & some are just horrible.
For some reason some of the songs/clips start getting all static-ie halfway thru. I put noise reduction but it only makes it all "digital" sounding. Plus when you look at the audio in the "edit waveform view" it's all crammed together.
1. Is there anything that can be done to "doctor up" these clips?
2. If I convert them to wav. files will that help?
As always thanks tons & Happy New Year!!! :)

1. No.

2. No.

Sorry to be so blunt, but the answers are really that simple. with lots of time and practice, you might be able to make marginal improvements using spectral editing, but don't expect much.

As always, you should never be re-savng an mp3. What is is bitrate of these files? For music, I wouldn't download anything less than 192kbps.

What, you don't think that you're going to get high quality audio from a peer-to-peer sharing scheme like Limewire?

You might get high quality audio from some sources. You might also get viruses, spyware, trojans, worms, and every other type of malware known to humas. I hope that your antivirus, antispyware, and firewalls are very good, and up to date, and that you've either turned off Windows File Sharing, or at least turned of Simple File Sharing.

Plugging into Limewire is like picking up a crack ho, taking her into your house, having unprotected sex, and then asking her to watch your place while you go out for a few hours.

BTW, switching to Chinese Torrent sites isn't a better answer...

That's why I feed them into adobe & then delete them from Limewire as soon as I dub them.

Yes I do have decent antivirus, firewall & antispyware...they so far has met every Limewire crack ho at my door & kicked her to the curb.
What sites are around to get good clean copies of instrumentals, prod music, etc since I no longer have access to a CCADS.

If you use the paid version of LimeWire are the files in better shape?
I'm just recording these songs to mini disc.
Are there sites that share/sell wav files? I'm willing to use a paid site just don't know a decent one.

You can try www.Rhapsody.com But that cost money.
Here at Sirius, if I can't find the song I'm looking for in our automation system, I'll go to Google and do this:

Type into the search box: Song title AND Imeem
i.e. You shook me all night long and imeem
I dub, usually in real-time, right into Audition 3. The quality is often surprisingly good.

www.Imeem.com is an ad-supported site, I believe. Therefore, registering is free.
Give it a try. Can't hurt..

Good luck,

Matt
