Why does 760 KFMB sound garbled from 10-12?

There have been episodes where the Bill O'Reilly show just plain stops with 2 or 3 minutes of dead air. When it is playing; normal is constant sputtering and garbling at random intervals (say 2-10 seconds). It's almost as if I'm listening to highly compressed streamed audio on a bad internet connection. Other shows never seem to have this problem and the commercials sound fine, what gives?

Dead air on the Bill O'Reilly's show? That should be an improvement over the hot air.

I think they do take a lot of their feeds from the Internet.

Just like in the other postings about how the station is quickly going down the drain, KFMB's program director, John Sniff, doesn't give a damn obviously.

I would think taking a stream feed would be more trouble than it's worth. The stream delay would make joining programming a cheap thrill.

Actually, it's Dave Sniff, but the rest of your observation is correct :)

I know.....my brain was thinking Dave Sniff, but my fingers sometimes misbehave sometimes..."sorry about that chief."

Not that Dave needs me to defend him ... but consider the situation he is in. A company that has sold out local talk to the right conservative talk -- all in the name of potential profits.

Most of the programming outside of Bill and Sean comes from TRN. Not that is bad; but look at the TRN slant towards a right wing conservative.

What Dave has done trough the programming angle is kept a station in the top five (generally) and one that has a lot of profit potential.

Again, while Mr. Sniff doesn't need me to defend him, just consider the the situation he is in.

With that in mind, please resume normal programming.

The tech problems stem from the ethnic cleansing that happened to the engineering department there almost two years ago.. Appearently the computer geeks didn't like nice, NORMAL people and proceeded get the ownership to get rid of the engineers because 'they didn't need them anyway'. Needless to say they abviously DO need them because their station sounds like a total train wreck. It's hard to belive a station in as big of market as SD has ownership that would do such a idiotic thing.

KFMB has been in auto-pilot now for a very long time, but John Rigg (former chief engineer) built that place. Why would KFMB be stupid enough to run off someone that knew every aspect of that facility??? Because they don't know or understand radio (and they don't want to!). I actually feel sorry for Dave Sniff, he was there in the station's glory days, and he knows what good radio is. But Dave has no power over engineering, and basically they have given him the finger, when it comes to getting things done. Remember one or maybe two commercials on the 6 pm news cast can make the same money that 760 makes in a month, so why does Ed Trimbell care?......He doesn't! If Midwest were to throw out Trimbell and the heads of engineering over there, they would make far more money, and would have a really great broadcast property.

But what is bad for KFMB is good for KOGO!

Lets see KOGO has (former KFMB'ers) Cliff Albert and John Rigg, and hey KOGO sounds great, and is on the air!!! no train wrecks and huh was number 2 in the ratings!
