Why does dance stay in phoenix?

Why does the energy format stay in phoenix and sanfrancisco and not in nyc i don't get it?The station in phoenix which i enjoy doesn't get good numbers.

Thoughts

I don't understand why Phoenix has a dance station considering the population really isn't into the music. I guess the owner just has extra money to burn.
Besides, Phoenix really isn't a dance club type of town.

The overall population isn't into music?

Please explain.

I lived in Phoenix and more of the population there was into Hip-Hop and Reggaeton, not dance.

Oh, I understand what you're saying now. I thought you were talking about music in general! My bad.

KNRJ doesn't put a city-grade signal over any part of the Phoenix metro beyond the first city coming over the mountain in the NE, pop. 5,000. With Flagstaff FMs going for $5mil+, they should IMHO cover that instead, seeing that their numbers are as good in NYC as they are in Phoenix. Even their urban AC gets fractional shares.

They stay dance because they have a very loyal fanbase of listeners that are supporting that music. Dance Music is a great genre of music and NYC needs a true dance station to play it.

Simple. The Phoenix station isn't owned by a soulless bean-counting corporation that makes its stations that carry Whoopi conform into a one-movin-size-fits-all image regardless of its location (also see what happened to Smooth Jazz 106.1 in Philly).

Don't cry.

Who says I'm crying? I have better things to "cry" about. There are a few individuals here who keep "crying" because there is no rock choice except Q104.3. It's time to move on. Get an iPOD, listen to CDs, and listen to music online.

It's also Phoenix, it's about half the size of all of Queens.

Wow love all this talk on the NYC board bout my dance station Energy AZ. I live in phoenix and have been listening since they signed on the first day of summer 2002. Yeah their signal sucks but hey its dance music and where else in the country can you get a full fledged dance station and I do not consider these new movin stations dance. I hear there is an upgrade to the signal in the works, we can always hope and PRAY the signal gets upgraded because I think if the signal was better the ratings would defintley improve. Anyways, very cool you boys and girls are talking bout Energy AZ

How about this input.

Mike Oaks programmed it and it almost went to almost a 1.0 in the Phoenix, AZ market. But when he was forced out, the ratings tanked.

KNRJ FM was a former Hot AC channel out of Payson, AZ.

That's it from me.
