Why Does Harvard Radio Have Murray St. Phone #?

Years ago, WHRB announced plans to move their antenna to the old WEEI-FM tower on Murray Street in Medford. No go, and WFNX moved there instead. I noticed in the new Boston phone directory that Harvard Radio Broadcasting maintains a phone number at 12 Murray St. in Medford: (781)324-7221. Odd.

Not so much, really. While WHRB never moved to that site, they do own the tower. (I believe it was donated to them by CBS as a tax writeoff.) So the phone at the site is apparently in the landlord's name...<P ID="signature">______________

Isn't it time for Bob to do the annual edition of Let's Talk About Wrong/Old Listings in the Boston Phone Book?

In this case, the listing may be correct IF they still maintain their phone number at that site.

Why don't you call it and see who answers?

Of course, if it's really an old listing and the number has been reassigned to some resident, you'd have to apologize for calling...

Isn't that FNX / old WEEI-FM tower in Malden the original Channel 7 tower (when they were WNAC-TV)? Or is that just nearby. If the old Channel 7 is a seperate tower, is there anything on it today?

I think it's the same location, but I don't know whether it's the same actual tower that Channel 7 used.

There are a couple of towers on that hill. I really don't know, but I'd imagine that there are probably various local communications services using them, municipal, commercial and otherwise.
