Why does KCJJ AM in Iowa City....

Have you actually LISTENED to this station??? If the "powers that be" (Captain Steve, et al) at KCJJ actually think their "format" is good - the Talk/80's/90's/50's&60's music mish mash - then they probably think that they are the most listened to station in eastern Iowa. It's called "living in your own little world." As you said, no one is listening, so I guess it's no harm.
Just think of KCJJ as the crazy homeless dude standing on the street corner telling every passerby that he is running for president in 2008 and he needs your vote. It's just noise. You shake your head and say "what a fool" and keep walking. Hold on a second...maybe when KCJJ says they are "the most listened to station in eastern Iowa"...that's who they are referring to - the crazy homeless dudes muttering to themselves. Now it makes sense!

At least they don't claim to have the most listeners in eastern Iowa.

I think they were refering to the nightime signal. When they first came on 1630 there was almost nobody interfering with them and they could literally be heard all over the country with only 1000 watts at night. I've done this 40 plus years...some of those in Chicago...I'll compare my resume with stickman 101 as well....steve bridges, owner, kcjj

Ok "Captain Steve"...you want to divulge your assets...I ask you this. Of the house, business, and cars that you own...how many of them were purchased with the money you made from the sale of KFMH...and how many of them were purchased with your salary at KCJJ?? Do tell oh great man of the microphone. And seeing as most stations in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City market will pay $20,000-$30,000 a year salary...stating you pay "better than the market" isn't really that great. Or when you were saying that...did you mean better than the supermarket?
