Why does KOOL play the wrong version of Amie?

Why does KOOL play the wrong version of Amie by Pure Prairie League? I've called to let them know. I was talking to a friend the other day and KOOL came up, and he said "KOOL drives me crazy. They always play the wrong version of Amie!. He said he's called 5 times to let them know. The version they play sounds like it was record 20 years after the fact. All I can think, is maybe the program director believes it the right version. Crazy man!

Tom Peake is the music director and swell guy. I'm sure you've just given him and the crew over there the word.
Since you're on the subject, Art, KCDX drive me crazy playing some weird, K-tel version of the Grass Roots Greatest Hits. I emailed them to no avail.
You'd think whoever is programming the music over at "Ghost Radio" would know better.

Even though it's annoying, it's an honest mistake. "Amie" was the only big hit they had on RCA. The rest of their major hits were on Casablanca. Anyone would logically expect their Greatest Hits to contain all of the proper versions, and there may be one that does, but there's a Greatest Hits which has all the hits, but only one is wrong--"Amie." That's because a later re-recording is used, rather than the RCA original.
They probably have a disc from Century 21 or some other source which contains the right version. The correct short version is found on Dick Bartley's Collectors' Essentials, Volume Two. There's probably an RCA album with the correct long version.

Yow, I've heard that. Nothing like Rob Grill sings the Grass Roots Greatest Hits!
