WHY DOES RADIO HATE & DISCRIMINATE AGAINST EVERYTHING?

So far, during just ONE night on these boards, I've seen how radio is "against" everything from alternative to dance and hip hop. I notice the Jazz people are also unhappy, and I'm not exactly sure about the News Talk people, but I get a sense of complaining from them, too.

With that being said, it just makes me wonder facetiously:
Why is radio so against everything?

I could understand the jazz, liberal talk radio, and dance folks crying, being that those are formats that are actually extremely limited in America...

And where are the dancehall/reggae people at? They actually have it worse than the dance fans! ..Or did they all jump off bridges already?

Because when a few companies control everything, and millions are at risk, they don't like to take chances and potentially lose money. So, radio stays uber safe and the masses tolerate it.

More avid music fans have their sources to satisfy their needs.

Everybody has it good today. In the age of satellite, internet, cellphone and podcast delivery, everyone can find formats that suit them even if those formats don't fit the lowest common denominator paradign of terrestrial radio.

There's a lot of nostalgia here for the days when radio played our favorite formats, but most of today's youth don't get their audio entertainment from AM or FM. I'm listening to ambient music right now.Viva le revolution. You could never get that on commercial radio.

No need to limit yourselves.

Discriminate against everything? Radio sure doesn't discriminate against: Pitbull fans; females who grew up watching movies like "Sister Act"; anyone who thinks Jay-Z and Beyonce are royalty; AC/DC, Led Zepplin or Van Halen fans; any teenybopper act, especially when paired some two-bit thug who raps; fans of old Mexican music; Lady Gaga aficionados; anything that's considered hip to gays; soccer moms; soccer moms who love Bon Jovi; country music fans living outside the big cities; people who can't get enough of Christmas music two months before Christmas; people who think every station has to go urban at some point; so-called "Lite" music fans (meaning what's considered "Lite" after 1999); people who once were disco fanatics but now swear off anything too dance-y; everyone else who has too much power on musical formats.

There you have it! The state of music radio today.

I feel like if you love newer pop or older rock, you've got it made
