Why does Root not carry Kraken in Eastern Washington?

I don't know if this is because of some bad Spectrum decision, or something else, but Kraken games are not available on Root in Tri-Cities. Not sure about Spokane or Yakima. You would think that building the brand is essential in the first year, but apparently not.

I've watched a few Kraken games on Root Sports Northwest via ESPN+. They have been running tickers/crawls about viewers contacting their video providers about adding the Kraken broadcasts, so carriage might be a work in progress. I suspect there would be some increase in the regional sports fees charged by providers, which might be a sticking point.

Additionally, Spectrum Tri cities channel guide continues to list Kraken games when they are not airing, including tonight. Big disconnect. I think there is a lot of confusion here but not sure is who to blame. I guess welcome to a new reality these days. I love hockey and want to become a fan but this is making me lose interest quickly.

If your guide says one thing and the programming is something else, call Spectrum and ask. I had this problem with not receiving the "right" RSNs when they transistioned from Fox Sports to Bally Sports, and Spectrum fixed the problem in one or two working days.

If I called Spectrum every time there has been a problem I would be a very angry person. They don’t usually have any answers and want only to sell me up with programming. Disgusting. I rank them very low with customer service but there are few cable options to this monolith.

And again tonight Root is covering Gonzaga instead of Kraken in Tri-Cities. Hey, I like Gonzaga, but please get the right programming on. Or at the very least caption the program correctly. My guide says Kraken, but my guide is wrong. Simply unacceptable by this AT&T product. Kraken management should take notice of this, but apparently asleep at the wheel.

Could be the NHL hasn't yet manipulated the market carriage side to include the new Seattle team. Also, remember that stations or RSN' on the East side need to pay for becoming an affiliated RSN or station. Money it tight now, especially if you can't find enough sponsors to cover the cost of carrying the game(s).
