Why does WALK breakfast club go on vacation all at once?

It's ridiculous. This morning Al Lewis intoned that he was filling in for the WALK breakfast club while they were on vacation for the next week and a half. I think it's the most asanine thing. They should be like every other morning show and split the hosts vacation in two rather than benching the entire show for a full week and a half. As a point of comparison in the city Karen Carson and her co-host Christine Nagy never take off at the same time. Likewise on the other side of the pond in Connecticut Star 99's Mike Mcgowan is taking off this week while his co-host Marit Price sits in with a sub for Mcgowan. I repeat. It's asinine and should be revisited in the future. If Mark wants to take off Lewis should sit in with Cindy, and then Cindy can take off and Mark can do the show with just Donna Vaughn.

I see absolutely nothing ridiculous about it. When Mark and Cindy are not there, its a different show, and when Mark or Cindy aren't there, it would be a different dynamic. Its not going to be the same morning show regardless. We're talking about peoples vacations and one week in the life. Kids are off from school, families take vacations. Its not going to kill anyone. On-air talent have lives too. Give em a break.

It makes perfect sense. Why would you want to handicap your roster for two weeks?

It is best to have both take a matching vacation, and just run a different type of show that features "best of" bits. This way the show is only out of the ordinary for half the time it would be if we split the time off between two hosts, two back to back weeks.

Plus we like to have our whole team intact when a new book starts.

Plus it gives people relief for two weeks from talking head and cackling woman 8) Maybe with less talk, they can fit another play of some godawful KT Tunstall record.

yes gli, just for you. because the programming is done with you in mind.

How much creativity to throw on "Chick and Guy" in the morning? Christ, can we come up with anything better?

The programming isn't done with anyone specific in mind and that's been the problem. The programming is detached, boring, predictable and stale. It's not just WALK, this is an industry wide problem where we have a hat with with nine different pieces of paper with nine different ideas executed over 12,000 radio stations.

The morning show should be less fluff and have some more bite, be a little more full service without the need of hitting people over the head (so those who do CARE about these things are not insulted when they tune by endless chatter about American Idol.. but by all means keep some of the endless chatter for those clueless soccer moms who just can't do without)... and it may actually stir some people up if you have someone on the air who can converse a little about local issues... so not everyone on Long Island has their heads stuck up their @ss and is ignorant of what goes on around them. We like to call that public service. The trick is to do it so that people don't realize they're getting educated while being entertained, cause heaven forbid they actually learn something about the corrupt morons we've elected.
