Why does WINS 1010 AM still use "The Typewriter background Sounds" ?

I was in high school when WINS went from top 40 to all news....I think some of you will remember when they went all news, it went from 1010WINS to W.I.N.S. AND STAN Z. BURNS for a short time was just STAN BURNS....WINS ticker is part of the history of New York, a land mark, if you will, for the ears.

They didn't resume the "Ten-Ten Wins" branding until 1978 (probably as a tie-in to their "New York WINS" slogan) . . . though in the case of Mr. Burns, he reinstated the "Z" to his air name in or about 1975.

Anyone remember when, towards the end of the 1970's and at the onset of the '80's, WINS referred to themselves on-air as "1010 WINS News Radio" - thus forcing WCBS, for a few years, to call themselves "All-News 88"?
I was surprised when they stopped using it. I thought it was more effective than "newsradio" for them. Did they drop it when they picked up Yankees from WABC?

At the point when WINS had the "1010 WINS News Radio" branding, they were near the tail end of their second run of airing New York Yankees baseball, and WABC had yet to pick up the ball (no pun intended). By the mid-'80's WCBS was calling themselves "News 88," while WINS was "1010 WINS Radio."

I think that "All-News" worked on me.

I remember Gil Gross in middays saying "All-News 88, WCBS" in the early 80's.

WINS having Yankee baseball was a bad signal, as was 1050WHN having The Mets at that time.

Does anybody remember "970 WJRZ, the Home of the World Champion New York Mets"?

Thanks for all that, I was not sure of the dates, good thing you knew it..
Here is a question...remember that great jingle played before the top of the hour?
Something like....News is {incert headline here} Sports is ( score here} Weather is ( clear & temp ) and I think the rest of it said "YOU DID IT ALL WHEN YOU SET YOUR DIAL ON ALL NEWS 88...WCBS NEW YORK, WCBS NEW YORK, WCBS NEW YORK>>>>It would fade into the CBS Net...... anyone have it?

This would have been premiered in 1979 - the same time WINS started with the "1010 WINS News Radio" branding. I remember as sure as yesterday when this was first heard.
