Why Doesn't Derek James Do AM Drive Again On K104.7?

He's still on Fox Charlotte.

They shouldn't have brought in Jon Robinson.

CBS can afford anyone they really want...

Being on TV is a plus.

I don't know what the deal was with Jon. Just too many personal problems (been there too). I wish him the best.

I will never understand why CBS treats this station as the "rotten step child" of the cluster. It's a full power FM licensed to Charlotte. Facilities wise, you can't do much better than that. Say what you want but I don't believe Lite 102.9 is treated that way by CC.

Lite is a move in from Hickory with 33,000 watts compared to WKQC with 100,000 watts. K should be mopping the floor with Lite, when it comes to ratings.

I TOTALLY agree, Mike. I don't understand why K104.7 is treated the way it is. I think it is a very good station. They need to get a solid morning team, however, that may bring some more stability to the station.

The music on K104.7 is some of the best I've heard on an AC, but like I've said, they could do better with the imaging. With just some minor improvements (better liners, etc), it could probably beat Lite most of the time. I like the more "gold" lean the station has.

Thanks for the kind words amfmradio1! Not sure who you are, but it's appreciated. I often miss it.

I'd love to come back but no such offer has been made and I don't expect them to make one.

As Mike knows we had great people at K. I fought for the addition of "Friday Night 80s" which did really well for us when I was at The Link.

As for my free advice:
The imaging does need a production overhaul and they need to put the two second autofade setting back on Audiovault. The few times I've tuned in, I've heard train wrecks where a jingle and the next song are playing while the previous song is still up.

I'd offer more but then I'd have to get a "consulting fee." ;D

Everyone has fought for something one time or another there, most falls ont deaf ears. I agree, production needs a complete overhaul not to mention a more competent program director. Some fresh young blood who really understands radio, not the flake they have now.

I'm just glad I never had to do traffic and weather after every cool song. That would have driven me crazy!

Oh and fire the consultant, he's known in the industry for creating really bland radio. K needs to be more than a music station. K needs to have fans of the station. That's how you get ratings.

I will give a big amen to that statement, that is right on target in my opinion.

But what do I know, I am not in the business anymore, and according to at least one other poster here everyone in the Charlotte market who knows my name thinks I am a joke, and should have never been in this business anyway.
