WHY DON'T WINNING STATIONS GET THE LOVE?

Have to admit that you are correct about the repeater thing. Let's take your typical American Hot-AC; They are all unique and different. Music that reflects the local area, breakers that are unique to that station only- not every other AC in the country, compelling jock chatter that keeps you glued to the radio- particularly those weekend happening bar and remote promos. Yes, it's compelling, non-homogenized radio at its best. Who needs boring folks like Rush and Savage when you can have such interesting radio? Sarcasm in FM HD.

I dunno. When 70 percent of a station's programming is network fare--17 hours out of 24--it's hard to give credit to anybody other than the guy who invented the electic plug.

True, but the talent comes in making it local. Local drive time talk...local service elements all day (i.e. news, traffic, & weather.)

In Harrisburg, at least 2 other stations bleed Rush into the market and are able to be heard relatively clean. Why not listen to that "repeater"?

My wishes for Clear Channel:

1. Remove Nancy and Newman and actually have a good team on the morning drive that consists more of entertaining radio instead of sexist bickering.

2. Remove Christine Ricci from the afternoon drive news (WHP). Most of the time when I am listening, I can hardly understand her or she's tripping over herself.

3. Don't change the River. If you want to DO want to change it, kindly thwap Chris Taylor on the head a few times and tell him that being an asshole off air is very unbecoming. I don't care if you *did* give birth to the Riverrrrr.

4. Definitely keep Jeni Gipe for traffic reports. She's doing an excellent job and the traffic info. seems to roll off her tongue without second thought. We can drive with confidence with Jeni behind the mic!

I agree with you about Jeni, she does an incredible job. She's money everytime she opens the mic.

We'll have to agree to disagree about everything else. I think Nancy, Newman and Christine are great on the air. And I've never had a reason to want to "thwap" Chris Tyler.. But you can't make everybody happy.

I apologize...I have XM Radio and listen to that 99% of the time...Jeni Gipe from 97.3 is doing traffic????

Yes, in addition to her evening duties, she's been doing afternoon drive traffic for Clear Channel. You can hear her on WHP, Bob, and River.

See, that's the problem with radio today...you can't just be a personality and earn your keep...you gottta do traffic, help in the office, empty trash cans....I remember coming up through the ranks I had to pay my dues too (working overnights, all the holiday shifts the full-time people didn't want), but one would think working for a corporation that you could come in, do the gig you were hired to do, without having to do traffic and split your whole schedule all over the place & do 3-4 jobs for one paycheck....Damn I am glad I am out of the business...I miss it, but I'm glad I'm out...
