Why don't you folks like your Movin' station?

I heard Portland doesn't like Movin' 107.5. Why not? Here in Milwaukee I would kill for any kind of rhythmic AC. NOTHING much good changes here! Too bad y'all can't just give me Movin' 107.5 though I can listen to it online, I can't at work or the car. Sucks. :(

"I heard Portland doesn't like Movin' 107.5. Why not?"

??? Trick question?? ???

Really, the station appears to lack any creative talent or even anything even approaching the status of being able to be classified as "music". Basically with Movin' (as with the similar programme "Charlie's FM", which in a way contribuited to the death of KISN) what we have, in a way, is somebody plugging their Apple I-Pod into a transmitter and playing it over the air. ANY boob can do that. That's not "radio" but merely a worthless jukebox on FM. And it shows as the companies that make these programme concepts likely are trying to cut as many corners as possible, keep creativity at the lowest level possible in order to $ave a f€w do££ar$. With probably the sole exception being the few stations in the range 88.1-91.9 (*not* counting KLVP!), it's really a shame radio in PDX has degenerated itself to the point it is at currently. (Maybe it's not too late to salvage whatever is left??)

"Here in Milwaukee I would kill for any kind of rhythmic AC........[T]hough I can listen to [Movin'] online, I can't at work or the car."

Do you have a CD player, Sandisk or some kind of MPEG player, a file on Kazaa or a Fred Meyer's nearby, and a line-in on your stereo?

I'm seriously, I think you may be the first person I have seem who actually appears to *like* Movin'. I'm not here to judge.....personally I am a KBOO/KOPB/Golden Hours dude myself. To each his own.

The Portland Movin' is way under funded. Almost no support, other than a transmitter, studio equipment, office space, some TV buys and not many human beings. So it sounds pretty un-human and machine-like.

I personally believe it could have done much better with more owner support. The station did have some great people, but not enough to become a real station.

I don't know if I'd describe it as a Rhythmic AC. It's about a million miles from K103! It strikes me more as a non-current dance leaning CHR.

K103 is mainstream AC.

The industry term for Movin's format is, indeed, Rhythmic AC.

I usually won't comment on the market that I work in but..

I like MOViN, while I may be a little jaded because I work here, but I really wanna see it succeed, despite being crippled by economic climate.

I don't know if after this last week, I would classify it as Rhythmic AC, maybe a tad closer to Rhythmic CHR now.

This market is going to see some changes once the big rumor becomes the big truth, right Jim D...

;)

i dont like moving ,because they never had good jocks on the station. the only good air person was stacy lynn. i do see moving changing in the next months.

I didn't word that very well. I don't think K103 is Rhythmic AC. I think if I were to make a rhythmic version of AC K103, it would n't sound anything like Movin'.

Well, given the planned flip thats about to take place at KXJM, it looks like KVMX might pick up the displaced listeners. It has been "MOViN'" more towards a Top 40/Rhythm direction for the past few weeks. All they need to do is hire several of the KXJM airstaffers and they'll really be "MOViN'" up in the Arbitrons.

The perfect line-up would be:

6:00-10:00 BOOTZ in the morning
10:00-2:00 Lisa Adams
2:00-7:00 Careezy
7:00-12:00 Stevie G

.. and why then is KXJM flipping formats? And you think just putting those former jocks from Jammin on another station with the same format is going to work, how?

Come on man, you pimpin' your friends?
