Why Gomez & Dave Are Winning...

Driving in to work today, I played a little game and tuned into 4 radio stations to compare and contrast. At around 8:00 both K-Rock and 93Q were playing songs I couldn't stand, while 95X and TK were both covering last night's American Idol TV program. Beaner & Ken were talking about the William Hung-like dude who had been singing like Cher. Meanwhile, Gomez & Dave were talking about the same guy, playing audio from his performance, and actually INTERVIEWING THE DORK ON THE PHONE! I have no idea how they got the dude's phone number, but there he was...on Syracuse radio...with Gomez & Dave...the morning after his pathetic and memorable comic appearance on the highest-rated show on TV. It was like the difference between color and b&w and one isolated example of G&D's dominance in my opinion. I have no idea if these guys were as on top of things previously, because I used to listen to Howard Stern. But Gomez & Dave have it going on, where others plain and simple do not. This is not the first time I have noticed something like this with their show--Super Bowl coaches in their hotel rooms, parodies with local references, ESPN commentators on their cell phones, interesting talk, etc. I think G&D are clearly THE choice for morning radio in this area.

It's called prep, showprep that staions can subscribe to and clips are provided to customize to make their own... heard nearly the same thing on another station...

Gomez & Dave are winning because of the level of talent, relatability, skill, and show-prep offered by their competition.

As BD would say,

Heh.
