Why I remember Mark Amazon when he was a...

...real radio talkshow guy, he would let the events of the day unfold, openly wonder about them and invite the people listening to call in and comment on what they saw or heard! The good old days! It's a shame he's been reduced to the Parks/CC broadcasting model known as "staged Caller syndrome" making outlandish statements, then asking everyone who happens to be listing to comment. Tonights aggregious example was a character named Tony from the "BIGHOUSE" a felon who Mark decides to belittle on-air then asks for other offenders to call in? WWMCD ??? (obvious he'd move to WGN!)
I don't think an occasional use of a staged caller is a bad thing; it can jump-start callers on a otherwise slow day. But EVERYDAY and EVERY airshift? The thing is if they let him, along with Doc, Jerry Jeff and Eric the BULLHORN do their own thing, they would come off as more genuine. it's a shame this business model makes so much money.

Agreed. I don't mind when they use the occasional fake caller but lately it seems as if they're using them numerous times during each show. It's even more idiotic when real callers call in all riled up over something the fake callers said.

Listened to Amazon for a bit the other night and he had the fake Richard from Indian Hill call in and say some idiotic statements.

After the phone call Amazon stated that he and Richard have mutual friends and that Richard is indeed a real person. Who would have thought? ::)
