Why I Want To Start Up A LPFM Radio Station

With all the mess going on in my hometown, I believe this radio station could help put a dent into it.  With crime being so bad, people wanting to stir up troubles and/or beg for something always, jobs being lost and things seem to be falling apart all around, I have no doubts this radio station would help change that and get things back on the right track again for my hometown.  It's true this radio station will be a small 100 watt broadcast but I'm of the firm belief that God will use the smallest of things to help bring real change to a place that needs it.  Who knows, this little radio station may be the spark that helps to bring God back into this nation again.  I know many of you reading may not like the Rock and Hip-Hop Christian tunes but I intend on playing them, along with the more mellowed sounding pop tunes.  This community has a sizable youth population and no one seems interested in reaching them for Jesus.  Too many of them are being exposed to very trashy music through our local radio dial and/or their own musical collection.  I hear the trash booming all the time around here.  Too much cussing and other forms of garbage is being promoted from these CD's.  It's so sad that even five year old kids are having to listen to this mess and learn from that example.  I have no doubts in wondering why my hometown is in the mess I find it in.  Been trying to wake up this place through my missionary work.  So far, things are working out but it could be better.  I believe this new LPFM radio station would be the right cure for a community that seems to be on dying side of things.  I want to use this broadcast to help lead people in the right direction and set the right example for them.  I want the five year old kids and their adult counterparts to be exposed to some real music, that has a real Bible based message.  Music that will lead them to Christ and away from the sinful acts they commit on a regular basis here.  I'm so sick and tired of all the mess that's taking place here and want to get something done about it.  I believe that if my hometown had a Contemporary Christian Hits Radio type of presentation here, it would help in a big way.  I'm so ready to bring a much needed jolt to this staled radio dial anyway. Hence my reason for wanting to do this and see it through.  These young people here are the future and I want to help lead them in the right direction and get them away from the trash they're always being exposed to, if it's anyway possible.

P.S. I promise you this new radio station won't be anything like the average Moody South's, AFR's and/or Faith Radio from Montgomery's of the world.  Want to be very blunt with my presentation and let the chips fall where they may.  Still plan on doing a 12 hour marathon of Skillet for you Mr. Bruce, should things work out, on my first night of broadcasting.  Get ready for it sir.

Well. thank you for the kind words! But please do it for the Lord, and the young people of Selma - not for me. I learned a long time ago - whatever you do, do it for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. I used to pray before going on the way that I would get out of the way, so that His words and His music and His thoughts could go out over the air - not my imperfect words.

R.D.P. - Do you have under retainer a qualified engineer and attorney well versed in how the FCC does business?

Right now I'm trying to get my foot inside the door.

Still trying to get everything established, like it needs to be.

Have a fellow already picked out for my attorney, should things work out.

My friends from Moody Radio South and Mr. Alan McCall are trying to help me get established.

Mr. Al Stroh from Montgomery, said he would help me get a license, once the window opens.

P.S. At this time, I'm still Praying for God to have His way with this.  If the door does open, I have no doubts He'll provide me with everything I need to see this through.

B.T.W. Thanks for the kind words Mr. Bruce Carter.  I appreciate it.

I would not be concerned with a FCC attorney right away. From your other LPFM posts, I think you need to file/alighn your self with a non-comm and start the application process. Don't wait until the last minute, now is the time to get prepared.

pm me & I will help if I can, Alan McCall is a fellow broacaster & friend.

Will do it!

P.S. As of this posting, I'm now trying to see if my friends from Moody Radio South would like to and/or know of someone that can help me get this radio station built and on the air.  I'm also trying to turn my People for Jesus name into a registered Non For Profit Radio Broadcasting Company.  Still waiting for God to send me the right people, so they can help me pursue a broadcast license for it, as well.  As you can tell, I'm taking this dream very serious.  I want to see this work out for me and the youth population of Selma Alabama.  I'm not going to rush myself into it.  Will let God have His way and take me in the right direction, as I continue to get things established for it.

If you need help putting your plan in motion, immediately contact Bruce Quinn at WHUM-LP in Columbus, IN. I absolutely guarantee that you won't find anyone who can be a better help in the process ahead of you.

One more question...what type of prayer support do you have covering this dream? Beyond yourself, have you shared this with others in your church home...members and staff? Are they prayerfully standing with you in this process? What local pastors have you met with, shared your dream with and prayed with? Have they shared your dream with their congregations and committed to join with you in prayer? Who are the prayer warriors in your town that will join with you in establishing a prayer cover over your vision? If you haven't, find those people now. Make them a part of the birth of this project. When you do, once you reach the air you'll have an base of committed believers supporting your LPFM who have already prayerfully invested in the birth of your dream.

I'm telling these people to Pray for me, as of this post:

1. My family of course
2. My home Church of course.
3. Everyone that I associate myself with.
4. Every business where I currently have my two Tract, Bible and Book Ministries in place.

P.S. I'll make a it a point to include this request, starting in January, when the Prayer list on our bulletin is updated.  (As of this note, trying to get that request added to the list.)

B.T.W. I even have my friends from Moody Radio South Praying for me too.  (Brother Rob Moore)

I'm going to withhold adding that request to the Church bulletin till I know for certain things will work out.

Still telling everyone I speak with, to Pray for this dream.

Not going to officially make it public till I get everything in place and know God will see it through.

Thanks to everyone who has been helping me so far.

I appreciate it!

I may let you help me build and then run it.

Have so much great music I want to spotlight on here. (CCM, SG, Bluegrass, Traditional Country, Instrumentals and Hymns)

Plan on being an oasis for all things Christian music.

Want to play songs for all age groups and generations.

Will avoid doing talk unless my audience wants it.

Who, me? :) Barring a miracle, on-site assistance is impossible. The best I can offer is advice/consulting via e-mail or on the phone. :)

Just for fun, I went to the new FCC site that does a search for an LPFM station. As I suspected, it comes up with *NONE* for this area. That's with the 3'rd adjacent rules waived, and even 2'nd adjacent, as an option! NOTHING is available. The ONLY option, here, is to get an existing station.
