why is 106.9 wkdn off

i have noticed this after that last thunderstorm over the weekend. that might be why, but what do you guys think? this has opened up 106.7,106.9 and 107.1 as good dx frequencies. i can pick up WLTW, scranton's 106.9,WWZY AND WWYY

nah. 106.9 is in camden, you can see it on route 130.

107.9 is in center city on top of one of the tall buildings.

if they had an outage they should have been back on by now

what other reason could they be off for did they put the station up for sale but if that where the case we would be reading about it

Their main on-air voice Harold Camping has been predicting the world will end on May 22nd for several years - so if the transmitter broke now, why bother to fix it?

Surprised Camping hasn't tried a station swap like what was done in Frisco, where CBS got 106.9 there in exchange for 610 there.I remember hearing he was thinking of 950 at one point.

106.9 is by WWB in Camden. WRNB is up on One Liberty Place on same tower as WMMR.

If I recall correctly, WKDN and WTMR share a tower. WTMR is still on, so the tower must be ok. I'm willing to bet that WKDN's antenna or transmission line took a bad hit during the bad weather over the weekend. Either that or the May 21st judgment day came more than a month early ;D

I don't think WKDN and WTMR share a tower Right Behind WTMR there are 2 towers Right next to the Pathmark I think one is for WKDN & the other is for WTMR.

WTMR is directional, they use both towers. However, I think the original WKDN (AM) was 1 kW non-D from that site and the FM tower was actually built before they got the permit to go directional with 5 kW days. Although many sources say WKDN-FM came on the air in 1966, there are Broadcasting Yearbooks from before '66 that list the station as being in operation with an airdate of 12/31/1959.
