Why is Channel 11 So Awful (WTTW)

Ever since around Christmas, WTTW Channel 11 has been coming in awful. Anyone else have any trouble with this?

It kind of looks like interference from another TV station

By the way I'm about 1/2 way between O'Hare and Downtown on the NW side of Chicago.

All the other stations seem to come in as normal.

I am on rabbit ears but as I said, it used to come in pretty good as a high VHF station

Strange... I wonder if, for whatever reason, you're getting harmonics from an FM station that you had not in the past? I have a 50kW station on 99.9 about 10 miles from me that causes "dancing herringbone" interference on 11. If I add a RatShack FM Trap on the coax, 11 clears right up. Channel 11's frequencies are 198-204 MHz, and the first harmonic of 99.9 is 199.8.

I don't know why anything in the middle of the FM band would have changed in your area, though. The interference is probably coming from some other source, but if you have an FM Trap handy it's worth the shot.

Or, could it be that FOX 47 fired up their digital transmitter
on channel 11 in Madison, WI? I see interference form that
in DeKalb...

That could be. There has been some on-and-off tropo DX over the past week between Illinois and Wisconsin.

I never thought of that. I will see if I can get a screen capture of it. Cause it only is on Channel 11.<P ID="signature">______________
