Why Is CNN's Logo Green?

I noticed CNN's famous red on-screen bug was green all day today. Is it because of the Christmas season, or are they taking a page from MSNBC and putting forth a subliminal message about the environment?

It is for the second annual "Planet In Peril" special on Thursday. They did the same thing last year for the first installment.

When I see the green CNN logo, it reminds me how nauseating their news broadcasts are (ex. Lou Dobbs).

It's a shame real journalists like Christianne Amonpour (sp?) don't get more airtime on CNN. Her specials are usually very good though.

I try to be as environmentally responsible as the next guy. But I noticed the CNN logo today and personally thought it was just a little bit ridiculous. Run as many green psa's as you want but don't (futz) with your core brand/identity
